HELP!! I have been sitting on this image for a while trying to figure out a name for it and well… I am just drawing a blank. So I thought I would throw it out there to you all to see if you wouldnt mind helping a girl out? All suggestions for a title gratefully accepted =)) *Background info – this is a conservatory near Paramatta Creek in Tasmania, hidden away off the road in the most unlikely of places. This image was created at the Apollo Bay Docks early in 2008, went here for a holiday just as I was getting into Photography. I went down to the docks just as a storm was rolling in and it made for some interesting weather conditions! This pic was created from one raw file. I changed the exposures in Lightroom and then merged 3 images using Photomatix, increased the blue and green saturation levels in Lightroom and added a bit of contrast. This is the result! Featured in National Parks of the World – Dec 2008. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Captured today… I jumped in my trusty old Toyota Landcruiser (Barry) and headed bush to chase this spectacular storm front. It was such an exhilarating adventure! We have now enjoyed several weeks of ongoing storm activity here in the desert. Today’s wild and rainy storms began at around eight this morning. Throughout the day, storm front after storm front has rolled over the desert, bringing with them heavy rain and exhilarating electrical activity. We have endured hail today, strong winds and even a lightning strike which sparked a small blaze in the National Park. And all of these incredible storm sessions were punctuated by bright sunshine and warm temperatures. Wow, I am thoroughly exhausted from following the weather today. Nothing can stop me now.”’ Trent Reznor This image is a tribute to an old friend, Hilton Matthews, who so sadly died earlier this year. It is a gift for his wife, and my closest friend, Sarah. Hilton was a well known sailor on the Isle of Wight, and was one of the true characters of the Fishbourne Sailing Club. He weathered many storms during his life. He would have loved this one! The boat in the image is one which Hilton helped rescue when it ran aground on the rocks. The sky and the seas have been painted, using a variety of brushes in Photoshop CS4. The Russel Burn tumbles down from the mountains of Applecross, seen as you take the spectacular drive over the Bealach na Ba ( the Pass of the Cattle ) single track road. It is an old drover’s route, and rises to 2,053 feet, from where, on a clear day, you can see outstanding views of the Western Isles in all their glory. Mostly though, it will be so cold and windy that you will will not want to stay too long !! It is a very wild and remote area, so incredibly beautiful. Taken on a Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, / canon 17-85mm IS lens at 17mm. Polariser fitted, ( to slow the shutter for more blur) / f23, three shot hdr (-2EV , +2EV and 0EV …..from a minus 1 stop underexposure reading 0f f23, 1/15 sec. on Aperture priority ) iso 100, Auto wb, RAW files converted in Photomatix and Adobe CS3. / Finished with a little Orton.
