One thing I learned a long time ago is when concentrating on an image, don’t forget to look behind you. I was busy photographing fishing boats at the opposite end of the beach and when I turned around I saw this beautiful light as a sudden rain squall approached. I, literally, snapped the image and then ran for cover as the rain pelted down. Taken with Nikon D100 and 12-24 lens. Featured in Sea group, Going Coastal and Featured Features groups.
Pastel painting. on Colourfix paper 65×45 of a huge impending storm approaching across the plains of outback Queensland, first gale force wind then the downpour of rain which turned everything to mud and with it several twisters wind so strong it almost flipped th car and daravan over. /

Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Its just a Tree. Toned & messed about till I arrived at this version. Its meant to be moody & pleasing to the eye. Personal taste at the end of the day. Many thanks for viewing. This is a scene from the Scottish Borders.
“Rolling On” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An approaching afternoon storm appears on the horizon while a field of hay bales are still glowing in the sun. / Bowen, Queensland. “And then to dwell in sovereign barns, / And dream the days away, / The grass so little has to do, / I wish I were the hay!” / ~Emily Dickinson
As the sun sets against the Sandia Range outside of Albuquerque New Mexico, the light was just amazing, with the storms coming in and the color changing almost every second, I set up my tripod and had at it…I really wanted an image that conveyed a sense of high drama and showcased the light for what it was, so I sat and thought to myself and said “What if Ansel Adams was shooting this, what would he do??” and wallah, this is how it translated. Thoughts welcomed! / —John

Acrylic painting on Canvas. / I don’t feel certain that this is complete. I am still feeling that it needs something. Maybe a broken down fence or a bicycle tire left on the side of the road. But as always I appreciate any feedback. /
