  • Shot at Rifles, Mentawai Islands with a big big storm approachin

  • The southerly is ripping through and we’re settling in for a rainy day. Then all the sudden the sun pops out – illuminating Bondi buildings. Got this quick snap at the right moment with a Canon 1ds MKII and 15mm Fisheye. Love the colours.

  • A massive storm building over Bass Straight, South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. This was taken from a place called ‘The Oaks’.

  • View across the sea towards Central Pier Blackpool UK, shot from the North Pier when the storm was breaking and the light was striking the water. The ferris wheel is mounted on the pier and the Pepsi Max Big One roller Coaster, once the highest in the world can be seen in the distance at Blackpool Pleasure beach. One of a sequence that has had no manipulation in colour. This is how the shot came back from the printers…….(loss of) colour due to leaving the film on the dashboard of the car in full sunlight prior to developing. Canon EOS 100 Jessops 200 ASA scanned neg Blackpool – My Birthplace

  • I took this shot of a very hazardous stretch of coastline on the very southern tip of Newfoundland just below a lighthouse. The winds were so high that day and the sea was whipped into such a boiling cauldron, my imagination was taken away. As I stood there and watched I could almost visualize a ghost ship emerging from the fog, the lighthouse that stood just above me was blowing its foghorn which added a sense of eerieness to the already somber scene. The winds lashed at me attempting to pluck me into the sea as a offering of peace for disturbing this epic battle between land and sea. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

  • Nick and I were hoping to catch up with Ken Wright for a shoot, but the weather wasn’t looking good. Ken decided to sleep in, but Nick and I drove down to the coast anyway. Sat in the car while it rained and waited, and waited….then walked down to the rocks after dawn, with umbrellas….and waited some more….eventually I weakened and asked for the keys so I could start shooting…. I’m glad I did…..got some rippers, in the end! Thank goodness for the heavy clouds, makes shooting after dawn so much easier! Canon 5D, 16-35mm at ?, f/11, 0.6”, ISO 50….lee nd grad filters, tripod, cable release, firm footing on high ground, surging tide. • During this past week, unimaginable waves came crashing into the north shores of the Hawaiian islands. The surf was windy, and messy, and disorganized—not ridable for the great watermen of Hawaii. I happened to be in Sunset Beach, Oahu during the storm, and the sun only peeked through the clouds a couple of times, briefly. I was waiting. Here is my image.

  • On the second day we were in Punta Cana, a storm rolled in and eventually turned the horizon black. This was taken about an hour before but the warning of wind, rain and darkness were already present in the early afternoon.
