As the rain approached, the sun gave these flowers one last kiss of sunshine.

A wintry ice storm came in a fury and laden the trees with inches of ice around the tree limbs. Trees were doubled over from the weight and many trees were uprooted. The sun was trying to break thru the clouds and the sunlight made the ice glisten and sparkle. It was so peaceful and beautiful. / Taken in East Stroudsburg, PA / Canon 30D, CS3 / / Welcome! The last of the sun before two big storms moved into Oregon and caused major wind and flood damage. Shortly after taking this picture, the first of the two storms moved in. The coast was hit the hardest with winds up to 129 mph (279 kph) and torrential downpours. The storms hit throughout the Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington). A short time after the first storm moved in, a bigger and more fierce storm rolled through causing even more damage to areas that were already flooded. A bad start to the winter season.
Oil on Canvas / It only rains two or three months out of the year, though flowers bloom year round the first real punch of color is when the intense sun hits saturated land and everything that’s waited pops out of the soil. The air’s still turbulent, dust storms in the prairies and meadows sweep into the mountains, and head for the ocean.

Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray. / / Lord Byron (1788-1824)
A good thing to do whenever you contemplate daydreaming, is to make sure you have a camera on you.
Little boat decided to rest near the great big tree whilst awaiting the passage of some inclement travelling weather.. ;-)

A few hundred yards from Hadrian’s Wall in an area known as Walltown. These birch trees stood out in the sun against the dark storm clouds, it was a great excuse to stop climbing and take a picture!!
A fact never to be underestimated – someone, out there, may still call this their birthplace. It captured my attention while in the car on my way south. A short walk on the gravel road is all it took to reach the old house that parted with its best years sometime in the last millennium. That colour, the textures of decaying wood, rusting roof and the remains of the dead tree, fallen where it lived, still searching with its long fingers for the occupants, long gone. I was mesmerised by the scene. There is something profoundly sad about the remains of buildings, any kind of ruins. Is it because they remind us of the inevitable and our disposability in this world. And all the usual questions: how old is it, who lived in it, and will it make it to the next autumn or even next week? Time to go, I had better move. The sky of ‘I mean business’ colour has been gathering strength for a while. Its forward party already seized the strategic heights from the playful patches of the late afternoon sun. When it hits, it will hit hard. On the way back, just one more look … enough time to take another breath of impressions, to treasure, and an image to share, with you.
This photo is ‘As Is’ right out of the camera. I usually like to add a bit of saturation to my shots, but the colors of this stormy sunset were awesome on their own. Taken July 23, 2008 from Burns Park in North Little Rock Arkansas USA.

This is beautiful Belongil Beach in Byron Bay, NSW. This image was taken late in the evening on 15th Feb 09 after two days of heavy rain and storms, the clouds were even more amazing once the sun came out. Canon 450D, 18-200mm IS Lens.

Both shots were taken as is and then I combined the two in photoshop. The cross can be seen in Groom, Texas. I caught the sky like this in a separate shot. Both shots I used my Canon EOS, Rebel XT Camera. I just love how this came out.
