Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Ruins at Cape St George Historic Lighthouse Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay, ACT. In 1770, Captain Cook sighted the bay and named it St George’s Head (it was St George’s Day April 1770) and called Point Perpendicular ‘Long Nose’. In 1791, the bay was named ‘Jervis Bay’ by Lieutenant Bowen of the Atlantic in honour of Admiral Sir John Jervis under whom he had served. Construction of this sandstone lighthouse began in 1854, and the elegant structure was completed in 1856. Unfortunately the lighthouse was built in the wrong spot, and it came to be regarded as a navigational hazard, resulting in its partial demolition in the early 1900s. Harriet Parker, the daughter of an assistant lighthouse keeper, was accidentally shot dead by a friend when they were looking for a horse near Green Patch in 1887. Her grave is in the Green Patch camping area. The ruin of Cape St George lighthouse is perhaps the most significant European site in the Park. The ruin was listed on the National Estate Register in 1981. The listing is in recognition of the ruin’s important setting, stonework and as a relic of early European occupation. In the early 1880s, Jacob Ellmoos established what appears to have been the first European settlement, other than the lighthouse, in the Jervis Bay Territory. He selected 120 acres (48 hectares) on the eastern shore of Sussex Inlet, where he and his family set up a fishing enterprise and farm. In 1890 the Ellmoos family opened a guesthouse there, named Christian’s Minde in memory of Jacob’s brother Christian who had died in 1888. This historic building, although still standing, no longer serves as a guesthouse.

Towering over the surrounding countryside in the heart of Scotland’s Braveheart country Stirling Castle is one of the great royal residences of Scottish history. A visit to this famous medieval castle is an essential part of any visit to central Scotland. It rivals even Edinburgh Castle for its sheer magnificence. It looks spectacular during the day, and enchanting when it is illuminated in a foggy night. / / / / Framed Print /

Newcastle Hospital was founded in 1817. The name was changed to Royal Newcastle Hospital in 1949. It has recently been undergoing a process of demolition to be re-developed as apartment blocks and all the hospital services delivered there have been reassigned to other Hospitals in the region. The original photograph was taken with a 6 MP Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S500, and edited in Paint Shop Pro. I applied a few filter effects and overlaid the sky from another photo, adjusting it’s colour using a tinting layer.

Amidst the movement of the tourists, the flashes of cameras and the “oohs” and “aaahs” , the voices of admiration and approval, a man sits in quiet contemplation seemingly unaware of the majesty of his surroundings. Angkor

Hand carved stone work of Ely Cathedral by Main Entrance My dear friend Ann-Maree asked me if i would try and do this image in B&W as she liked the colour version but wanted to see it in B&W. So here it is for you. : ) sorry still not cracked linking to other people pages Ann-maree. This beautiful carved stonework, greeted Simon and I as we came upto the main entrance of Ely Catherdral in Cambridgeshire. As I walked through the heavy carved iron clad door and took my first steps into it’s sanctuary and looked ahead of me “OHHHHHH” escaped from my lips. I have not often been overwhelmed by the size or beauty of many places but this was beyond anything I would of been able to imagine. The sheer scale of the building and stained glass windows and workman ship all done by hand and 100years in the making. I would advise you take a tripod, something Simon and I will both do next time for that extra small cost of having it with you,and using it within the Cathedral it will be worth your while. Nikon D90 and Nikpr 18-105vr lens Focal length 38mm / F/.4.5 / Exposure 1/400 sec and -1step. / ISO 400 Hand held and Aperture Priority, image tweaked in levels slightly in Photoshop CS2 and then converted into B&W in Redynamix HDR 1 image software programme.
This is Ely catherdral, and the clock tower is where the main front entrance is to this most inspiring, beautiful and all handcrafted work by man, taking over 100 years ago to create. There is beautiful stained glass windows, impressive views from the roofs, and so much to see inside, and althou it has lots of tourists it presence with in is still a house of god with hourly prayers read out. I did not like the colour version of the image just could not get my colour balance right,so i was going to delete the image but thought i would just play around with it in b&W and this is what appeared. I just love the clouds coming forth across the sky just has a feeling about it, but i cannot put my finger on it, possiably you can. But i liked it and so have kept it. Taken inside Ely Catherdral, Cambridgshire Uk. 27.10.2009 Well the inside was wonderful so much to look at and photograph, if you knew what you were doing and had a tripod, both of which I did not have. But love trying new things so twiddled the buttons on my camera set my ISO to auto range up to 3200 and went to have some fun. I took a lot of images most blurred and so bad but I learnt a lot and slowly getting to grips with low light photography. I have processed this one in Nixon Efex pro 3 just a little to being out the stonework a slight level changeand a tweak in something else i cannot recall must make notes as I work but little else done to it Nikon D90 and Nikor 18 – 105vr lens Focal length 18mm / F/. 4.5 / Exposure 1/15th sec and _1 step / ISO 3200 Hand Held, Aperture Priority, ISO to Auto
