Stonehenge and a moody dusk sky, the place has a real old magic to it, like your staring at the roots of the earth, metaphorically speaking.
I thought this format would be idea for cards, but possibly it will work for prints as well.

They say this tourist attraction is not on everybody’s hit list. But here it ’s the first destination of some alien friends. Hope they aren’t disappointed! The original is in acrylic and about 20” x 16”.
King Arthur, waits quietly for the ages to turn. He knows that there will be a time when the curse must be lifted, world order restored… and makeovers are much cheaper. :)
Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire. One of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. Archaeologists believe the standing stones were erected around 2200 BC and the surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. Some things will come and go. some will last an eternity… This piece was nominated into the Pay it Forward Group by the wonderful Judith Winde. This is what she had to say about it: I would like to nominate the photo that made the biggest impact on me, and that is “They Come and Go” by Paul Tupman.. Having been to Stonehenge and experiencing the mysticism of its existence, seeing the enormity of the stones, and marveling at the monumental spirit and drive it took for whoever it was that constructed this wonder, I couldn’t imagine being able to convey the essence of Stonehenge with a photograph, but Paul Tupman proved me wrong. To me, his photo is truly a masterpiece! You are too kind, Judith… Thank you.
watercolour on paper 16” x 12” / This little painting was done as a homage to an unknown (by me) painter whose work I found illustrating an old book dating from the 1930’s. It was full of the most wonderful landscape sketches of the English southern counties. If I ever find out his name I will let you know!

Stonehenge, Wiltshire, UK. The prehistoric site dates back to 3100 BC. I drive past it regularly and it never fails to impress.
The ancient stone circle at Callanish on the Isle of Lewis in The Outer Hebrides is over 4,000 years old and one of the oldest such structures in the world. Though smaller than Stonehenge it is considerably older and is awe-inspiring to visit. Normally seen in sunshine, here we have a photograph taken beneath an umbrella as a storm passsed overhead giving this magical place an altogether unworldly quality.
Photographed a million times by others but not by me until today :)
For something a little unique – The ghostly ambiance of Comet McNaught over Stonehenge. “Comet McNaught, also known as the Great Comet of 2007 and given the designation C/2006 P1, is a non-periodic comet discovered on August 7, 2006 by British-Australian astronomer Robert H. McNaught.[1] It was the brightest comet in over 40 years, and was easily visible to the naked eye for observers in the Southern Hemisphere in January and February 2007” Information taken from the web link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_McNaught “Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire, about 3.2 kilometres (2.0 mi) west of Amesbury and 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) north of Salisbury.” Information taken from the web link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonehenge
Been working on a few versions of Stonehenge to get a more mysterious look, and this is the other one. I had worked on this earlier, but did not post as I had posted the original photo some time ago and did not want to duplicate. But I was really happy with the result. The most obvious change is to monotone, however I have played with Exposure, and added Vivid Light Gradient to create the mood in the sky. The original / The other one /
A group of standing stones on Salisbury Plain in southern England. Dating to c. 2000-1800 b.c., the megaliths are enclosed by a circular ditch and embankment that may date to c. 2800. The arrangement of the stones suggests that Stonehenge was used as a religious center and also as an astronomical observatory.

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire, about 3.2 kilometres (2.0 mi) west of Amesbury and 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) north of Salisbury. One of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. Archaeologists believe that the iconic stone monument was erected around 2500 BC, however this was not the first stone structure on the site. The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. Stonehenge was a place of burial from its beginning to its zenith in the mid third millennium B.C. The cremation burial dating to Stonehenge’s sarsen stones phase is likely just one of many from this later period of the monument’s use and demonstrates that it was still very much a domain of the dead.
No, it’s not a christmas tree, just some weird stones. Was raining the whole bloody time so no good photos of England i’m afraid. The rain must have stopped just long enough for me to take a photo of this place. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!!

Over the years, a variety of people, cultures, and species have been given credit for the building of Stonehenge. Some of the most legendary figures trying to take responsibility have included: / Giants: According to old myths, dancing giants were caught in a sunbeam and petrified to stone, causing the monument to be nicknamed the “Giant’s Ring”. The stones were also believed to have healing power. / Merlin and King Arthur: Some believe Merlin himself assembled Stonehenge to commemorate slain chieftains. It’s also rumored that the Sword in the Stone, which would eventually lead Arthur onto the throne and into legend, was made from Stonehenge Stones. / Aliens: Most of the world’s earliest and most elaborate crop circles are found within a forty-mile (64km) radius of Stonehenge. Scientists today are unable to replicate crop circles, suggesting that their construction and that of Stonehenge should perhaps be credited to a more intelligent species. / Atlanteans: According to Plato, the Kingdom of Atlantis controlled the islands of the Atlantic and built many stone structures to better predict future events based on astronomical calculations. Given the fate of Atlantis, which supposedly sank into the sea, it’s debatable how accurate their predictions could have been. / Druids: John Aubrey, a Stonehenge scholar, erroneously suggested this connection three centuries ago. The Druids are an earth-based faith that we now have formed much later than the building of Stonehenge. The Druids do celebrate the summer solstice, same as Stonehenge’s true builders, and they have recently made it a tradition to incorporate this ancient monument into current rituals. / The Beaker Folk from 2500 BC are believed to have done some of the work on Stonehenge. They were an aggressive culture that invaded the Salisbury Plain. From artifacts, we know that the Beakers were sophisticated, organized, understood mathmatics, worshipped the Sun, and celebrated the solstices. This makes them ideal builders for some of the site. / The other cultures that contributed to Stonehenge remain a mystery, though archaeologists are getting closer and closer to finding answers. This is a photograph of a full scale replica of Stonehenge that was erected as a WWI memorial by Sam Hill, in Maryhill, WA which overlooks the mighty Columbia River and Mount Hood. The photograph of the Full Moon was also taken by myself in October 2008, the two were merged and edited in photoshop7 with Redfield plug-in for the rippled water effect. Stonehenge
