I’m beginning to play more with the cameras settings, particularly with the tones and filters on a monochrome setting. I was amazed at how much more texture and detail is picked up in this monochrome image of weathered sandstone wen compared to another image of the same stone in colour. Any tips on filters and tones would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
People of Norway always dream about the summer. They have boats and the lucky ones houses by the sea. The preparation of the boats start as soon as the snow melts and most of these ocean lovers take their vacation in July which statistically is the month with best chances of hitting the summer weather. But, when you live in Norway you know the summer is going to be short. But, you also know that when the summer arrives there is no other place on earth you would like to be. The temperature is perfect and the days are long and the nights short. The challenging part of experiencing the summer here in the north is to be there at the right time because you never know when it will arrive. So, the locals always win because they live here and can enjoy the summer when it decides to arrive. I am often filled with some sort of sadness in the mids of these warm periods because I know they won’t last for very long (usually). Mother nature typically only graces us with a few weeks of really warm summer weather here. This photo is taken on our first boat trip of the season. As you can see it was already late July but we all knew it; the weather forecast was without doubt: the warm summer weather had arrived. On this evening we visited my favorite island in the archipelago. I have taken many photos here some of which you can see in my archipelago set. This view is facing north and just a few minutes apart I captured the photos below facing south. My work on flickr

Photograph was selected as a Featured Work by Benches in August 2009, and by Weekly Theme Challenges group in July 2009. This bench can be found at the Wave Organ, a wave-activated acoustic sculpture located on a jetty in the San Francisco Bay. / The jetty itself was constructed with material taken from a demolished cemetery, providing a wonderful assortment of carved granite and marble. This photograph was taken by JD Brummer for As Eye See Photography.
