At least for me ! / This picture was taken in Pisaq near Cusco, Peru’ in 2006 ! / The ruins of Pisaq is about 20 miles from Cusco and like the more famous Machu Picchu was an important city during the Inca empire. / It sprawled across three mountains at the altitude of about 3600 mts, offering visitors spectacular views.

Canon 10D / 17-40mmL Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Lower Antelope Canyon, called Hasdeztwazi, or “spiral rock arches” by the Navajo, is located a few kilometers away from the upper Antelope Canyon and is a more difficult hike. La Rue Obscure is the oldest street in the old town of Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco. It was built on virgin soil at the beginning of the 13th century. La Rue Obscure formed the basis of the rest of the town’s construction on the slopes rising from this coastal lane. It gave inhabitants of the town certain refuge against possible attacks. The ship captains who were forced by storms to anchor in the bay, could make necessary repairs in safety. La Rue Obscure also welcomed precious merchandise, such as wine, in its cellars.

They just love their hedges in Belgium… Perfectly manicured hedges. I managed to capture this lone gardener on his way through the maze with classic stone wall buildings as his backdrop.

Background Information: / Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m). The lake has a surface area of 0.5 km². The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis. This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. I came here the afternoon before and there were snap happy tourists everywhere but decided to come back the next morning and there wasn’t a soul in sight, just the crashing ocean to keep me company… Unfortunately as of early June 2009 this archway has collapsed leaving two apostles next to eachother. Background Information: / Side is one of the best-known classical sites in Turkey, and was an ancient harbour whose name meant pomegranate. Side is a resort town on the southern coast of Turkey, near the villages of Manavgat and Selimiye, 75 km from Antalya) in the province of Antalya. It is located on the eastern part of the Pamphylian coast, which lies about 20 km east of the mouth of the Eurymedon River. Alexander the Great occupied Side without a struggle in 333 BC. Alexander left only a single garrison behind to occupy the city. This occupation, in turn, introduced the people of Side to Hellenistic culture of the Greek Civilization, which flourished from the fourth century to the first century BC. After Alexander’s death, Side fell under the control of one of Alexander’s generals, Ptolemy I Soter, who declared himself king of Egypt in 305 BC. The Ptolemaic dynasty controlled Side until it was captured by the Seleucid Empire in the second century BC. Yet, despite these occupations, in the following years of the second century BC, Side managed to preserve some autonomy, grew prosperous, and became an important cultural center. This is one of my own favourite paintings. I did it over 20 years ago and takes prode of place in my Lounge room. I painted it off a photo my dad took on my parents first trip. A few years later I was able to go there myself and find the spot and take my own picture, mine was not as appealing as dad’s as the mountains did not have the nice layered look as this one. Painted in Oils.
