Whitetail Doe stomping her foot to sound an alarm. They do this to show annoyance, or to let the other deer in the area know there is something suspicous here. The next step is the snort, where she will exhale hard through her nose making a shhht! sound. All the deer in the area will bolt when they hear thhis sound. They will high tail it our of there. / Holding their tails up is another way of showing alarm. The underside is white and it is called Flagging. If their tails go up they are about to fly. I took this shot at the Labatts Blues Festival,, which is an annual event here in Edmonton,,,,,Its 3 full days of fabulous blues music..everything from Chicago Blues to New Orleans Blues to Ozark Blues,,,, its one of the premier blues festival in North America!!! I was standing at the stage for this groups entire performance. .outstanding!!! Its a small venue,,, held at one of the city parks,,, only about 2500 tickets are sold,,,, of course you can sit outside and listen,,,but its just not quite the same,,,,, and everyone becomes your best friend,,,,, like family! this was my first time at Bluesfest, and I will certainly take in the entire festival next year!!!
