At first I was naturally terrified when I was stung on the end of my nose by a radioactive bee which had escaped from the local research laboratory; though in time I found it did have its benefits. I used to tire of queing for hours at a bar – never to be served – and now everyone is so polite. They leap to their feet and leave me their food and drink instantly. The only danger comes in the form of a irate bar man with a silly fly swatter and I find a couple of quick jabs in the rear seems to cease his outbursts. I must admit I was a little worried by the prospect of being smothered in fly spray but being still part human it does little damage apart from causing mild discomfort and an itchy bum. I have been warmly welcomed by my fellow wasps who see me as their champion, well lets face it we have a sort of tarnished past. I just consider it ignorance and a lack of understanding. My local hive have made me Captain – Captain Stinger. / So for all of those out there who are still considering wether to purchase one of my highly collectable prints. Think about it quick lest you recieve a visit from my friends this Summer! / . /

I was trying the macro setting on my 70-300mm lens in a field of flowers surrounded by these buzzing Bumbles. I am definetly going to invest in a dedicated macro lens… any suggestions as to what to get? I use a Canon 400D.

Found this on a walk to the slushie store with little one today! Loved the look of these two flowers. The bee’s both fuzzy and green guys were having a hay day on them

Ok here it is ! I know you’ve all been waiting for the unveiling for like … ever. OK, probably not since I haven’t mentioned it before….maybe I did , I dunno hmmm . Anyway ….I’ve been working on a collab with the very talented Jennifer Woodward .. She has written a very cute and delightful poem about …. well , wait .. I don’t wanna spoil it for you … ( and noooo bribing me for info won’t help ) Until Jen is ready to launch the finished piece , I’m putting out some teasers .. this being the first of a few characters from the poem . I have to admit , this has become my personal fav of all my stuff ( I think mainly cuz it took me longer to do than anything I’ve done before ) so feel free to favorite , throw accolades and praise my way , purchase .. I won’t stop you ! Also , / Detail / / !!

Matted Print Sold – Thank you! I spent countless hours the past 2 summers trying to obtain that certain bee in flight shot. I have several images but none of them were quite what I had hoped for and envisioned. The 70-200 faster lens was used, the macro with and without flash – every shutter speed setting, DOF, you name it…I tried it! I also assumed I could not obtain a focused in flight shot using my macro, with flash, and a 1/200 ss. I believe I was wrong :o) Even with the proper settings, and prime conditions, obtaining the proper timing with these busy little bees is an art in itself! / Bugs are Beautiful / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST /
