Folk Devils and Moral Panics / This is artwork I have just completed for one-man-music-show Onemancabal / I just wanted to share this piece because I am so very proud of it, I put my heart and soul into this work – and I think when you listen to the music you’ll agree it suits. The idea for this piece was to create a long artwork that would be divided into the various parts of the CD packaging – so the far left is the cover, with the middle section on the inside front cover and the inlay, and the far right is the back of the CD. My intention was to have just a few characters coming onto the front and back of the case, to entice people to open it up and be blown away by the intricate illustration inside. Like a reward for buying the CD! We wanted to have innocent looking characters with a slightly sinister edge to them – reflecting the music (which has some beautiful folky, traditional sounds but isn’t all it seems). It was a great blend of my two distinctive styles and I am absolutely in love with it! / I’ll be posting details and credits on my website soon – and perhaps some snap shots of how it all came together…enjoy! P.S This is only a demo CD, so fingers crossed Onemancabal gets signed and we can all buy his beautiful music…
“Stilt pig” is part of a series (acryllic and ink on paper) I did for a book of my paintings combined with humorous animal poetry (from various authors) called “Het stapelschaap en andere dierengedichten” ISBN-10 90 77408 27 4.
House on stilts near St. Augustine Fla. Shot on Kodak high speed infra red film, negative scanned to PS on a Canon negative scanner. I’ve also had this manually printed, but the digital version is every bit as true to the original print… and a lot less trouble.
Waiting for the right moment. Stilt fisherman, south coast, Sri Lanka. Stilt fishing is still a common practice in costal regions. Fishermen wade through shallow waters in bays and coves to climb their fishing poles, and then wait patiently for the fish to arrive. This age-old tradition is often carried out during the night and is passed on from father to son.
Black Winged Stilt in Full Flight
An external view of the abandoned TB Sanatorium showing it raised up from the groun on its stilts, this was to allow good air flow around the whole building.
This image inspired a collaboration with / chord0 / / His poem God’s love in Nature suite this image perfectly. God’s love in Nature / When slight and silenced, / With rumors of corollas and wings, / Is love that fills everything! / Have agitated waves / And the deep vertigo / Of the abyss and the distance. / Life and Death, eternal Love / Of pain and exuberance, / Keep me chained / To the light of his Word / And that sleeps at dusk / In the footprints of the plants. Please check his writings and gallery Bacara Beach in Santa Barbara, California during magic hour at dusk. Stilt Cat….. Stilt cat is a real cat which I met whilst in Cyprus. She and her kittens hung around the local fish resturant and had evolved to have huge legs so they could eat directly from diners tables. If you are ever in coral bay, beware! I like to think that she is now so tall that she wades out to sea to eat whales.
These things were all the rage once to ego driven barony pimps. / But after the great Magician Strike of 709 these things slowly became naff and crumbly kind of like that punnet of strawberries you bought on special for a dollar…convinced that you would eat them later that day… but you forgot and put it off for a few days…adn then pulling them out from behind that Bok Choi you find them furry and straight up whiffy…err buy my shirt

Was hard to tell if this was an Ant, Fly or Wasp.. After taking this shot, and looking up close, was obvious it was a species of fly, and after 2 or 3 hours of rumaging through web pages, I found it’s type. Photographed in my backyard, was sitting on a Halicon plant leaf. Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. Canon 5D Mk II, 65mm, 5x. Available very large.. Watercolour (Winsor & Newton) on 140 lb Arches cold press. This was our first stop on our Alaska cruise in August. We discovered the hard way that this delightful town receives 200 inches of rain per year, most of it on the day we were there.

I”m learning the TTV technique ..... My Kodak Duaflex II arrived in the mail today. It smells of Napthalene & has lots of grime & dirt in all the right places…... / Oh what a sweet thing! I’ve now got to learn how to do TTV shots with some degree of decorum…. I’m so unco! / I still haven’t made a doo-hickie for shutting out the light…..I’ll get to that. My little wooden friends were kind enough to share a moment with me, so I could give the Duaflex a run. This is their first couples portrait….. hope they like it. This stilt walker was part of yesterday’s Melbourne Cup parade. You want to know how tall they were? Jeepers, I’m guessing at least five metres tall. There was a fair breeze as they walked across Princes Bridge, so the “petals” of this elaborate flower costume kept blowing up around the stilt walker’s face. But because the gossamer-thin fabric was translucent, I shot a couple of frames of the person’s face through the material. Then, realising that lots of bystanders had their cameras ready, the performer pushed the petals down slightly, just enough for me to fire off this frame. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F6.7, 1/500 sec, ISO 200, 300mm. Featured by my co-host in ANYTHING WE WEAR, November 2009. 120-0982
