Sydney is not only blessed by a beautiful coastline providing us with countless beaches, but also some of these beaches have a “rock pool” at the headland. These rock pools provide a great place for the locals to take a dip in the ocean without the waves. Something besides portraiture for a change! This piece won the College Foundation Purchase Award in the student art show I entered last April. This was taken in 2003….This was taken with my minolta on film In my grandmothers garden…She asked me to take some pictures of some of her flowers..and this is the picture that I gave her…..She was pleasantly suprised to hsee her garden visitor as well.. To this day this has remained one of my favorite picturesm as well as a top seller… This is also a tiger-striped swallowtail butterfly…

I was set up to take a photo of the reflections when the birds flew into the scene. Made a great photo even better.

Worth going to Larger for this one – heaps more stars. Storm off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park. This shot has all my favourite elements in one image – the moon, stars, lightning, storm clouds, and ocean. What a treat this night was – getting some fantastic storms here. This is about the sixth I’ve photographed. There are two lightning cells here – the white one under the moon and the orange one off to the right of the main cloudbank. This is one shot in a continuous sequence of 100 I shot to create a startrails version. Unfortunately my computer is choking on processing that many 50mb files at once so may be delayed in posting the startrails version. Shot with the Big Scary Monster: Canon 1Ds MkIII – 16-35mm f/2.8 LII USM lens / Tv: 30secs / Av: f/3.5 / ISO: 200 / FL: 17mm

This still proud She Oak stands close to the shores of Swan Lake. It is a wonderful location and continues to change as the water rises. Yep it’s still raining here. / It’s so peaceful, I often find myself just sitting down ,forgetting about the camera and absorbing all that’s happening around me. What you can’t see are the many lake birds getting ready to bed down for the night.

This is my second instalment in the “nostalgia” series, the one I’ve been withholding from you. Because of it’s very special mood I consider this to be my masterpiece in this series and in general. Although I must admit that with the creation of The stock market I’m starting to doubt between those two. I’m also under the impression that most people here seem to favore Sex, Drugs and Rock’n’roll Same general concept and techniques as in the other images from this series with the most important being the painted with light technique
