Last light looking across the mighty Murray River at Mannum, South Australia. A magnificent stretch of the River, and yes still with plenty of water for tourists and photographers…..
Last light with a storm approaching near Mannum South Australia. Image taken at the front of the Younghusband general store. HDR conversion of three images. Whilst the River is in trouble and drought effects us every day the communities along the river deserve our support and encouragement. There is still plenty to do and see along these stretches of the river. Tourism is often their lifeblood so with our sky’s and weather at the moment its a great time to visit.
Last light again, looking South from the Causeway at Victor Harbor along the Esplanade across the ocean. Quite dark and brooding but available lighting was troublesome here. Canon 400D, HDR and adapted in Photomatix 2.5. Best Viewed large.

Visiting some beautiful gardens today and came across this little Bromeliad flower hidden in the shadows. Proved to me yet again the beauty and design that can be found in nature.
Three dead redgum trees standing silent together in Lake Bonney at Barmera in South Australia’s Riverland. Many thanks to Kathy T for sending me out to Pelican Point, an amazing place to see these majestic trees still standing against the elements. For great images see Kathy’s site.
Remains of a sailing vessel washed ashore off Carpenters Rocks, South East South Australia. The boat is submerged in sand and is only visible like this on low tides with slight winds. Slowly being broken down by the ocean waves. Had to wade out to get this shot as it was…
This is the colour version of the HDR sunset shot at Mannum that has come up with an amazing dogs face in the lower left portion of the image. Shot taken between Mannum and Young Husband near the Marina. No photoshop manipulation the dogs face just appeared. Dave from mannum was with me that night shooting just a little to my right and the face didn’t appear in his images. Canon 400D polarising filter – 18- 55 lens HDR and converted in Photomatix…
Back to my favourite spot to catch first light reflecting off of the Causeway beams. As the sun rises this side of the Causeway is often highlighted, showing the features and grain of the timbers. The Causeway joins the Victor Harbor mainland with Granite Island. As many of you know this spot is a regular of mine as many years ago we followed my fathers wishes and spread his ashes alongside this structure, his favourite fishing spot!!! Quite a bold and stormy sky in the background for this one which seems to complement the foreground highlights. Canon 400D, HDR – 2 shot merge in Photomatix.
The stamen of a Lillium growing in the garden. Loved the gentle orange colour of this flower. Canon 400D Sigma 100-300 macro lens finished in Photoshop CS3.
I photographed this window ornament of a butterfly after a lovely Christmas day lunch spent with family and friends…. This image is the result of a collaboration with Stephen Denham – thank you so much Steve! /

A beautiful sunrise over the River Murray near Lyrup in the Riverland of South Australia. The main river itself still flows and holds plenty of water for visitors and locals to enjoy. Even though we are in drought and the river is under stress there are still many beautiful sights to be had along the length of this lifeline. Canon 400D, 18-55 with CIR Polariser.
Night time shot, taken in the backwaters of the River Murray, near Lyrup in the Riverland area of South Australia. Beautiful still night with mirror image reflections of the majestic dead river gums. BEST Viewed large. Canon 400D 18-55 lens. Processed in Photoshop CS3.
Late afternoon, Lyrup flats between Renmark and Berri in the Riverland of South Australia. Afternoon shots whilst waiting for the sun to go down for a night time shoot. The clouds moved apart and left this diamond like section reflecting nicely on the still backwaters. Again a visit to one of my favourite places where these huge River gums stand defiant against nature, dead but not finished….... Canon 400D 18-55 lens, CIR Polarising filter. Three shot panoramic stitch in CS3 and converted to B&W in the same program.
Late afternoon at Port Willunga South Australia. Looking out towards the setting sun through the remains of the Old Jetty structure. Not overly sure about the colours here, strange evening with orange red clouds and just dark enough to get a slight amount of motion in the foreground. Canon 400D, 18 -55 lens, CIR Polarising filter coupled with an ND4. Wet legs and a wet tripod, standing out in the water trying to avoid waves!!!!!!
