  • In the New Urban Environment of large acreage high development, every centimetre is a controlled surface, with the objective of symmetry and perfection. The eye is not allowed to see the slightest hint of natural anarchy, but nevertheless detects a total absence of connection with what lies beneath and beyond. And we keep it clean. And guarded. While shooting the building where these steps and stairs reside, from the footpath, I was approached by 2 security guards employed by the Jacksons Landing Community Association and asked what I was doing. Rather pointless really, given the large number of cameras which have filmed me while shooting my Urban Lines Project. They only had to watch their screens: Shot in RAW using a Canon EOS 10D and 28-90mm zoom lens at 70mm, ISO 100, f8, 1/125th of a second. ____ ____

  • It was a game to him, it was a hunt..a hunt for the perfect victim, they wouldn’t even have a clue, not a chance for escape, he didn’t look the type, he was handsome, charismatic, the women found him irresistible, he didn’t even have to try to persuade them to come home with him.. She was perfect..beautiful, petite, full of life, after a few drinks and some conversation he had her in his spell, flirting, and complementing her, she was putty in his hands..he could feel the excitement race through his veins as he walked her to his truck..when they pulled up in front of the building, he seen the realization come across her face..her fear only excited him more..she grabbed the door handle ready to flee..but he was too quick and had her by the hair..dragging her out the drivers side door screaming, she fought him with all her strength, kicking, biting, but he wasn’t even fazed by her blows..as he climbed the stairs and slid open the door, he smiled..knowing that the Final Steps in this game were about to begin. Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lens This is a set of stairs that is on one side of the Grain Elevator. /

  • There is an area around the viewing points at Derwent reservoir and Derwent dam, in Derbyshire’s Peak District, England. I took this picture of the steps that lead down to one of the many fabulous views around the dam on my day out with fellow Redbubbler and friend Jason Connolly. It was a fabulous afternoon out. I decided to use my 45mm Tilt-Shift lens to create this wonderful surreal depth of field, to give it a mysterious and dreamy atmosphere. I do love looking at steps and how they are designed. Some with gentle slopes, and some hard and steep. Some sweep around whilst others are simple and straight forward. Each have different character. What I love about these are the bits of life that are growing in all the nooks. These concrete steps are full of life.
