Charcoal and acrylic on paper
In the central quadrangle of Wren’s Old Royal Naval College at Greenwich stands a statue of George II by John Michael Ruysbrack. Carved in stone, this swaggering composition includes an orb and sceptre, a magnificently flowing robe and a convenient classical semi-column for the king to lean on. Given the good ol’ HDR treatment.
When I saw this beauty (Great Egret) against the sky, I had to make sure I got a few shots of it. He just posed as if he was a statue. You have to admire that kind grace and beauty. Back Bay Wetlands, Newport Beach, CA

Time stalks us all, beauty is a fleeting moment – Statuesque is that moment preserved forever, perfect, captivating, sad.
the statue laughs! It had been a serious day of posing…me thinks the young model has been practising in her bed room for many years! I read an article about Keira Knightley (in Vogue?) that someone is on pout alert for her in photoshoots/filming. By the end of the day, I was on pose alert…but it suited the dress, it had to be done. Still, its fun to have moments of laughter and relief. You gotta have it!
Detail from a statue of a boy holding a goose and other things. / Shot in The Louvre; Paris / (I’ll look up the artist who did the statue later and add it to the information. I do have it written down, but it’s 1am here now, so bear with me until a more reasonable time ;c) ... ) The photo is almost as is out of the camera. I added one layer of contrast adjustment.
A reproduction of “Statuesque Couple”, of 2007. The work is a fantasy image of an impossibly statuesque couple of gay lovers.
This is another recent piece. I’m a big fan of pulp literature and you don’t get much pulpier than Edgar Rice Burroughs.
This is a stone statue on the left hand side of the main entrance to St George’s Hall in Liverpool. It is said to be the finest neo-classical building in Europe and was designed by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes. With its splendid chandeliers and gilded plasterwork it is also one of the best assembly halls in Britain, overlooking Lime Street and St.Johns Lane and Gardens. Completed in 1854, St George’s Hall represents the prosperity in Liverpool in the 19th century. A regular visitor to the hall was Charles Dickens who held many of his readings in the ‘Small Concert Hall’. The interior is dominated by the main hall 169 feet long with a floor of Minton tiles which is normally protected from the feet of the day to day users, but opened to viewing usually once a year. St George’s Hall is unique in terms of its architecture, function and history.

This is another example of the statues found along the streets in Valletta.
