    Statues of the Buddha have a fascinatingly serene presence generally. This one in the Mak in Vienna has a powerfully hypnotic quality. I had just been learning the skill of telepathy so that I can now communicate with animals, and I used the same technique with the soul of the statue. What I saw was overpowering and a not a little frightening. I felt I had touched eternity for a split second, but I hastily withdrew and took a few minutes to regain my balance. It was however awesome in the true meaning, not the hackneyed cliché, use of the word.
