The first, and perhaps best of the melbourne statue artists. He stands completely still until someone pays him money, then he slowly moves and gives people flower, or blows bubbles etc. A note for the camera nerds, one of the last images I made on kodachrome before it got too expensive to shoot it here in AU. The best colours of any film.

Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 lens at 10mm, F11, shutter speed 1/60 seconds ISO100, edited in Photoshop Antony Gormley’s Another Place Iron Man on BeachAnother Place consists of 100 cast-iron, life-size figures spread out along three kilometers of the foreshore, stretching almost one kilometre out to sea. Contractors spent three weeks lifting the figures into place and driving them into the beach on the-metre-high foundation piles. The statues are located in Crosby, Merseyside, England Please view large
The statue “Sound II” stands silently in the water in the crypt under the Ancient Normal Cathedral in Winchester U.K. The whole gigantic building sits on watery foundations! This part of the Cathedral dates back to 1079 and now stands well under the local water table, therfore is often flooded / This is a three exposure HDR ( long exposures, it is dark) -1, 0, +1 . Taken from my “gorillapod” off the bottom step before the water. /
Shot at Sunrise at Crosby beach at Merseyside on a day out shooting with fellow bubbler pal Steve Smith / Another Place is a piece of modern sculpture by Antony Gormley. / Now permanently erected on Crosby Beach, England, it was due to be moved to New York, United States in November 2006, but there was a controversial proposal to retain the work at Crosby. It was recently stated in the local paper, the Crosby Herald, that they may stay for a decade, but at a meeting on 7 March 2007, Sefton Council accepted proposals that would allow the sculptures to be kept permanently at Crosby Beach. / The sculpture consists of 100 cast iron figures which face out to sea, spread over a 2 mile (3.2 km) stretch of the beach. Each figure is 189 cm tall (nearly 6 feet 2½ inches) and weighs around 650 kg (over 1400 lb). / In common with most of Gormley’s work, the figures are cast replicas of the artist’s own body. As the tides ebb and flow, the figures are revealed and submerged by the sea. The figures were cast by Joseph and Jesse Siddons Foundry in West Bromwich. / Another Place was first exhibited on the beach of Cuxhaven, Germany in 1997 and after that in Stavanger in Norway and De Panne in Belgium. / 5 shot HDR tonemapped image. / shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-70 mm lens. /
VIEW LARGE PLEASE :=} These statues are called the ‘Weeping Women’ located on the top of the colonnade in the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The weeping women were created by the sculptor Ulric Ellerhusen. The point of the statues was to express the sadness and melancholy of life without art.

You are used to these blanched dim corridors, / you are used to the king / who passes you without speaking. The other one is different / and you almost remember him. / He says he is singing to you / because he loves you, not as you are now, / so chilled and minimal: moving and still / both, like a white curtain blowing / in the draft from a half-opened window / beside a chair on which nobody sits.
