Hey-Ya, you right ? (english greeting) Just a quick question before I go to bed, I have close to 200 gbs of photos from my trip, and a few days before we head home. Can anyone suggest a really good, clean and easy to use program for image management. I’m considering Lightroom or imatch but I haven’t tried either but both come strongly recommended from friends/peers. What do other people use, I’d like something that I can easily view and sort, and probably tag and catergorise my 1000’s of photos. This will be the last for me in a while, maybe up to a week, depending on the state of our house (hopefully its not underwater). / Cheers, / Craig
Pedernales State Park, Johnson City, TX. This is a beautiful part of Texas. The water was so inviting, but very cold! The rock formations in this area were fun to climb around on.

Well the 100,000 masterpieces celebration ended …
Well the 100,000 masterpieces celebration ended a couple of days ago – and it was quite popular! Here’s a graph of the daily sales on RedBubble since we launched in Feb 07: The first big spike was Christmas last year … and the recent spike was last week. Congratulations to the 2239 folks who received a sales notification last week. Another stat I was surprised to learn recently is that 74% of members who have made a purchase on RedBubble aren’t active uploaders … it seems there is a large number of ‘fans’ active on RedBubble who just browse, comment and buy. In fact I think that only about a fifth of the members on RedBubble are trying to sell their work … so last week over 10% of the people who are trying to sell on RedBubble made one or more sales. I also found it interesting to learn that most people (64%) who make a purchase on RedBubble make their purchase on the first or second visit to the site. There’s a couple of reasons for this. RedBubble itself generates between 30% and 40% of all sales on the site through our search engine work – i.e. a potential buyer types something into Google, they find something that matches their search interest on RedBubble and buy it straight away. The second part of the explanation is that Bubblers direct their potential customers to the site … and these people come to the site in ‘buy mode’ and transact pretty much straight away. And while I’m talking about the power of the search engines, they can generate opportunities in few different ways. Judith Oppenheimer has recently licenced one of her images to an agency after they found it on RedBubble. Congratulations Judith! You can read about that here. Well that’s about it for today … oh but before I forget, you remember the incredibly cool t-shirt comp we launched last week? Well due to popular demand we’ve extended the date for entries by a few days. So you’ve no excuse to not get involved and hopefully end up with your design hanging in streetwear store Demo, in London. So get scribbling. Ciao, - Peter

Just kidding….it’s a bit more than a dingy. / Here are the numbers: * When Sun Princess was launched in 1995 she was the world’s biggest cruise liner and set new standards in passenger ship design * Sun Princess was the biggest cruise liner ever to sail under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Stretching 49.4m above the waterline – the equivalent of a 20-storey building – she was clearing the bridge’s road deck with just 4m to spare * Weighing a huge 77,000 tons, Sun Princess is equivalent in tonnage to 68 Manly ferries, 200 Qantas jumbos and 706 blue whales – the world’s biggest animal * Sun Princess is 1.7 times the size of the legendary Titanic (46,000 tons) and bigger than Cunard’s famous QE2 (70,300 tons) * If tipped on her stern, the 261m long Sun Princess would stretch 11m higher than the observation deck of Sydney Tower, the city’s tallest building. * The ship offers more ‘must-have’ balcony cabins (410) – than any other ship ever tailored for Australians. The abundance of balcony cabins makes them more affordable then before. * With 975 staterooms, Sun Princess boasts more accommodation rooms than Australia’s largest hotel, Sydney’s 630-room Four Points by Sheraton in Darling Harbour. * Every seven days, Sun Princess passengers consume 10,000 bottles of wine and champagne, 10,000 cans of soft drink and 2400 bottles of water * Her 2900 passengers and crew is the equivalent of eight fully-laden jumbo jets. * More than 1100 passengers can enjoy dinner at the same time pheeeeeew

I wanted to know which of my images were most viewed. / I wanted to know which were least viewed. / I wanted to know if my better selling images were really better selling. / I wanted all the above for my t-shirts too. I couldn’t find out. So I created a small software application that could connect to the RedBubble site and sift through my stats and work it all out. I have called it ‘Red Bubbler Stats’. It works like this. You run the program and then it will cycle through all your art work (or t-shirts) collecting the number of sales, comments, favourtings and views for each. It also works out a sort of percentage calculation based on the number of views for sales, comments and favourtings. In other words, you might have an image that has been viewed 100 times and commented on 10 times. This means it has a 10% hit rate. This can be very useful because a high hit rate means that the image is a ‘hit’ with those who view it. A high view rate with a low hit rate for sales, comments or favourtings indicates that your tags are good but your image is not! This information can be seen on the application’s screen but you can also export it and load it into Excel for additional number crunching. SInce every piece of art (or t-shirt) is displayed in the application you can also jump straight to that piece for editing on RedBubble, or to the page that the item is listed on. That can be very useful too. It’s also possible to sort the collumns displayed so that you can get very quick answers about what has the most or least comments or views etc. I am making it available for any to use, though I make no guarentees it will work for you or anything else. If you are running WindowsXP then you should just be able to download the executable (which is zipped) and run it. If you’re running Vista, I have no idea but you’re welcome to try. As it only comes as an .EXE with no install, it should not cause any harm at least. The instructions probably need to come but essentially, 1. You run RedBubblerStats.exe / 2. You WAIT until the redbubble screen is displayed. You’ll need to log in the first time of course – I don’t see or store your usercode or password. / 3. When the screen has logged you in, press the START button after making any option changes you wish (e.g. include non-visible works, art or t-shirts) / 4. It will cycle through all the pages and build up the statistics tab – flipping you there when done. / 5. Clicking on a header in the STATS tab will sort (alternately) by the column chosen. EXPORT will create a .CSV file that can be loaded into Excel. / 6. Select a line in the STATS tab list and click on Edit Item button to edit the particular piece of art or clothing in the EDITS tab. Click on the Edit Page button to go directly to the page list with that item on it. You can download it below: Zip file : RedBubble Stats V01.00.00.01 BTW. for the nerds, it was written in VB6 because it’s all I have available to me. Version 01.00.00.01 includes a fix whereby items with only 1 sale were not being reported correctly! Doh!
gotta love it

Hi, I thought you might be interested in some random stats on visits and views to RedBubble in the month of July: - New visitors: 1.160 million / - Returning visitors: 1.095 million Note that the returning visitor number is not unique returning visitors. If you return ten times in a month then you’ll be counted ten times. The number of unique visitors was 1.259 million – so subtracting the new visitors from this number leaves 99,500 unique returning visitors who visited 1.096 million times. The number of pages viewed was 30.8 million. The most viewed pages (i.e. those with 1% or more of the total views) were: MyBubble and all the various pages inside MyBubble (23.7%) / All the pages in groups (5.9%) / Art->Featured (3.2%) / Home page (2.9%) / T-shirts->Featured (2.7%) / Login page (1.2%) / Community page (1.1%) / Art->Recent (1.1%) One of the ways I look at this data is to conclude that the majority of page views are on individual work pages. I.e. There is a large amount of your great work on RedBubble and that’s where the eyes are. - Peter

I joined RB in October 2008. There were many reasons for joining: obviously I wanted to promote my work and share what I do with the world, secondly I needed a positive distraction to take me away from my daily life which had fallen down around me. The following comments, favourites, views and sales helped me divert my attention at what was a very lonely and isolating period of my life. In July 2008 (on the eve of our wedding anniversary) my husband had a stroke. Thankfully, over the last year, the use of his right side and speech returned and he is back to his ‘old-self’ with the exception of monitoring excesses of stress, cholesterol and alcohol! Sadly, the friends that I thought I had actually were “fiends”, and saw the physical snap-shots of his recovery as ‘he’s better’. The ‘friends’ that I thought I had I discovered were no more than high-maintenance baggage who were so self centred they couldn’t see that I was drowning not waving! Redbubblers (without knowing) stepped in, and I want to thank each and everyone of you in helping my husbands recovery and keeping my sanity in what otherwise would have been such a lonely time. Thankyou for the 8362 comments that I have received, read and replied to, and the 1291 favourites that have given me a niche, sense of purpose and a value. Thankyou For the first nine months of his recovery Brian slept on average 18-20 hours a day. The moments of Brian ‘being there’ and what outsiders ‘saw’ was enclosed in the longest and quietest of days imaginable – the silence was deafening. I want to thank those who have given me nothing more than positives during this time and who unknowingly ‘been there’ at all hours of day and night when my insomnia has kicked in. Daytimes were hard, the night-times seemed to go on for ever. Whilst Brian slept, I listened, whether it be painting or on the PC: for so long Brian was afraid to be left alone and I was so afraid to leave him. I want to say a heartfelt thankyou to everyone that kept me smiling in the community that is Redbubble. / / Comments 8362 / People Favoriting Your Work 1291 / Art Views 131316 / T-Shirt Views 104313 / Writing Views 1572 / Journal Views 8007 / Total Views 245208 / Most Popular Work Neutral Nude As a huge “thankyou” I will be offering this work alongside Neutral Nude 2 and Plaits and Panties at a hugely discounted rate until the end of November. Well it’s now been just past a year since I joined RedBubble. / I decided I would make a journal marking the occasion. I have had both positive and negative experiences while being a member here. I have considered leaving this site multiple times but I have met many great artists. I’ve had issues with being censored here, but I have sold my work and made money. I’ve made an effort to try and create some groups here where different and alternative artists can feel more at home and I’ve been involved in occasionally suggesting work to be featured on the RedBubble homepage in The suggestion Forum One time I was even suspended from RedBubble for a whole week because I said some bad words in a journal. ;) I’ve been bad, I’ve been good. I can be both kind and outspoken. But overall, it’s a good website and I’ve decided to stay. Many of you have reached out and become what I would consider, RedBubble friends. My stats for the site are currently as follows: I have been added to 761 members Watch lists. Wow! / My artworks as a whole have been viewed 185,638 times. / My total views (I think that’s page views) are 189,228. I can’t say I’ve made as many sales as I’d have hoped when signing up for RedBubble. But times are tough and my art isn’t always practical for hanging in ones house. I have received one paycheck so far for a little over $100. And I am expecting to receive another one soon. I don’t use paypal, so they can only send me a check per every $100 I make. Altogether though, I have made $256.54 in sales. Thank you to anyone whom has ever bought my work. My most viewed Photo is Peacock with 5,344 views. My most favorited Photo is Nymph with 149 favorites. This took hours of work in photoshop, and I am really pleased with the result. For one, I made my skin look amazing, and, let me assure you, that is a modern miracle in and of itself. There were multitudinous layers (I lost count) – including several layers that were just texture, various filters (including my new favourite, the brilliant high pass filter), and, most of all, the drive to successfully bring this from the concept in my mind to the image that you now see. I’m sure there will be those who get this…and, thus, we shall commiserate. However, whether you get it or not, I thank everyone for looking and commenting. And, let me tell you, I appreciate every fave as if it were a personal gift. Detail crop: /
