This image grew organically from the “Chiefs wife”. I was thinking of the regal aloof nature of the African queen, which I had drawn earlier and then I thought of the scary twighlight world of the Sangoma, or witchdoctor, in juxtapostion to this calmer world. Sort of like the yin/yang, good and evil aspects that co-exist within each of us.
I hope the quality is ok – only just getting used to scanning film – last image was not big enough :)

Meet Chicken, the resident rooster at our farm! As you can see, he’s not quite ‘right in the head,’ but in more ways than one! He has been run over by the riding lawnmower way too many times. This can be attributed to the fact that everytime it gets fired up, he chases and attacks it! Quite the territorial bird, he is. Truly a sight to behold. Chicken thinks he runs the place, and struts about making this quite clear. He attacks his reflection in shiny vehicles, humps inanimate objects (sad but true), eats scrambled eggs, and sleeps on the bench on the porch, sometimes with his friend Charlie (one of many cats). He’s quite entertaining, to say the least. Never a dull moment at our farm! UPDATE ON CHICKEN / Well, I am (sort of) sad to report that Chicken has finally, uh, crowked. I suppose seven is old in chicken years! He will be long remembered at the farm.

Housesitting (Eye call it “Home Stewarding”) last fall. Keeping Company w/Kats (two). —There was always this .. grit, dirt & detritus on the living room floor when Eye’d return from doin’ my biz in the world; every DAY. It was always in a kind of round pattern, like a circle. “Where this @$%^ comin’ from??” says Eye. / —Finally, the Man got some BRAINS: Eye looked UP … Eye made noises as if Eye was leaving the house, slamming the door / in the process. Got quiet. Waited … Earnest scritching noises & light banging from the ceiling heat register —it’s snowing DUST. Crept up the stairs reeeeel slow-like … took for-EVUH. Nearing the bedroom door directly over said living room, Eye’m stretched out in the stairwell, lifting my camera (already turned on) to the base of the 2nd floor, straining to see. I press the shutter! / —You see what Eye saw … See that hole in the floor? ;>
Two slightly uncertain young reindeer at Christmas.
I pass these beautiful, elegant deer on my way through the Adelaide hills and they are always wary and ready to run.
I crept around the floor playing with a stray cat and caught his surprise when confronted with a huge camera staring at him.
I just love the look of the baby. This was taken using natural light from a window hence the large reflections in the eyes. Cross processing was done in photoshop and works wonders with the red lips and additional contrast.
Frightend young woman
Clicked this photo at ‘Ladghar beach’, a place 7Kms away from Dapoli (Maharashtra, India).. This beach has clean water & lovely red textured stones all over. / The sunset was so beautiful that I almost forgot to photograph it..hehe..Very romantic.. It was a windy & cold evening.. Since the moonrise was around 2030 hrs, it was low tide during the sunset & the water was sinking in.. But that revealed these nice textured rocks & soft shiny sand.. Had a great time photographing this. Hope you like this :)
this deer looked as though something had startled him
