  • John loved his word games, and I love the Beatles’ original name =)

  • The Beatles are the best-selling musical group of all time, estimated by EMI to have over one billion discs and tapes sold worldwide. / They have notched up the most multi-platinum selling albums for any artist or musical group (thirteen in the U.S. alone). The Beatles have a record six diamond-selling albums (10 million copies): Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles, Abbey Road, The Beatles: 1962-1966, The Beatles: 1967-1970, and The Beatles 1 and have had more number one albums than any other group (19 in the U.S. and 15 in the United Kingdom). The Beatles spent the highest number of weeks at number one in the albums chart (174 in the UK and 132 in the U.S.). They were the youngest group to top the UK album charts with their debut album; however, McFly has since topped this record with their debut album in 2004.

  • John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were four ordinary lads from the working class city of Liverpool. Their extraordinary talents and collective musical genius made them the biggest selling recording artists of all time and they still sell millions of records to new audiences even today. They have inspired todays modern group with their classic albums and carefully crafted songs and their legacy will live on into the 21st century.

  • Senoia, Georgia The property that became Starr’s Mill was owned by Hananiah Gilcoat who built the first mill here before his death in 1825. This site, on Whitewater Creek, was less than a mile from the boundary between Creek Indian lands and the State of Georgia. Hilliard Starr, who owned the mill from 1866 until 1879, gave the site its current name. After the first two log structures burned, William T. Glower built the current building in 1907. This mill operated until 1959, using a water-powered turbine, instead of a wheel, to grind corn and operate a sawmill. The Starr’s Mill site also included a cotton gin and a dynamo that produced electricity for nearby Senoia. From the Georgia Historical Society marker at the site. Featured work in Rural Around The Globe and Georgia – The Peach State groups.

  • Those that own a Nintendo Wii will know how much fun there is trying to create your own Miis to look like famous people. The early Beatles, circa 1962/63 and the single Love Me Do, seemed to lend themselves well to the Mii treatment.

And a classic font too. You can’t go past Helvetica for timeless appeal, no siree! And if i were allowed only one CD on a deserted island, it would most def have to be the beatles! (probably Abbey Road :) ♥ JéJé

  • This is a painting I did three years ago. It was intended as a tribute to the great city of Liverpool, England and whilst being a bit whimsical it did include images of the Anglican Cathedral, the Catholic Cathedral, Saint John’s Beacon and of course the Beatles. I swapped it with a popular Vancouver (Canada) artist, John Ferrie, for one of his lovely floral acrylics. I wish I’d never swapped now … although I still like John’s painting and it still / hangs on our wall. Owing to a misunderstanding of English etiquette, when I sent John a photo of his painting hanging on our wall he failed to reciprocate. A photo of my painting hanging on John’s wall would have meant an awful lot to me, ‘cos I really respected the guy. Instead of good-naturedly returning my compliment, he claimed I was forcing him to “jump through hoops” when I reminded him a month later. He refused to take the photo and stopped emailing me, claiming I must be suffering from depression … sad, but these things happen and I wish him no ill … he’s a good artist and was a good friend while it lasted. Wherever you are John, I wish you a happy 2009.

  • Starrs Mill Georgia Hannaniah Gilcoat built the first mill here in before his death in 1825. This site was less than a mile from the boundary of Creek Indians lands and the state of Georgia. Various landowners gave the mill different names between 1827 and 1866. In 1866 Hillard Starr bought the mill and this name has stuck. William T. Glower built the present building in 1907. The Starrs Mill site inclued a cotton gin and a dynamo that produced electricity for the nearby town of Senoia. The turbine mill operated until 1959 and is now owned by the Fayette County Water System.
