  • Stand & Deliver Mixed Media, lots of layers and textures. / Moll Cutpurse is the only highway women I’ve found any reference to although I’m sure there were more…probably too smart to get caught;) Moll Cutpurse’s real name was Mary Firth, a bit of a tomboy, always ready for a rumble and happiest in the company of men. / Sources on her history are a little conflicting but she was a bit of a roguette and after pulling a big job on a Lord, brided her way of goal and the business finding it safer to work as a fence…..a fascinating character from the early 1600’s. Von kindly posted this wonderfully fitting poem / The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees, / The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas, / The road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor, / And the highwayman came riding- / Riding-riding- Sales to date: 2 / Available as a framed print, matted print, poster and card. Thank you to Marcus Ranum for the beautiful model. Nala kindly bmailed more info on Moll Cutpurse for history buffs

  • A shot I’ve been wanting to do for a while.

  • Oh, for a voice like thunder, and a tongue / To drown the throat of war ! When the senses / Are shaken, and the soul is driven to madness, / Who can stand ? / When the souls of the oppressed / Fight in the troubled air that rages, who can stand ? When the whirlwind of fury comes from the / Throne of God, when the frowns of his countenance / Drive the nations together, who can stand ? When sin claps his broad wings over the battle, / And sails rejoicing in the flood of death; / When souls are torn to everlasting fire, / And fiends of hell rejoice upon the slain, Oh, who can stand? Oh, who hath caused this ? / Oh, who can answer at the throne of God ? The kings and nobles of the land have done it ! / Hear it not, Heaven, thy ministers have done it ! William Blake originally printed 1783…...I’ve always loved the works of Blake and this poem seems as apt now as it did in 1983 Available as a art print, poster and card…. / Image copyright © 2009 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited

  • Hate can be shown in various ways and do so all the time. The only way we can stop all the hatred going on I think is to show/help people to be more open minded. Nowdays nothing is longer “new” so the only reason alone why people still has to be such ignorant fools is that they don’t know any better. / This is my take on one way hatred often is shown, on somebody different. To be different suppose to be a good thing. To stand out from the “normal” crowd and mainstream living. Yet so many people is neglected and looked down upon by the very same reason. / To stand out is to be strong. To dare go against the modern society we have today and pursuit his/her way of living. This can be many many ways, gender, skin color, sexuality, dressing, talking etc etc, the list can be made into all eternity. It’s scary how many people still that lacks tolerance and respect/understanding towards new things. / I wonder when the rest of the world is going to have an open mind, if ever… Canon EOS 400D / Sigma 17-70 / F2.8-4.5 / ISO 100 / f/4.5 / 1/4 s / 33mm CS4 for vignetting & levels More works can be found over at DeviantART / and / rdblanche.com

Just a little over a year ago we put together a statement of what RedBubble is about. We want to repost this not because we are too lazy to write a real journal entry but because it is still true and still important. The last year has seen a global financial crisis, renewed threat of a boiling planet, innumerable international crises and no doubt you have faced many personal challenges. But throughout it all we can draw strength from our individual and collective creativity. When we take that camera, pen, paintbrush or mouse (and some things stranger as well) and start to give expression to the deeper things in ourselves we reach to a higher plane of being. When we recognize in another’s art something new or something of ourselves we connect at a profound level – not only with them but with a common humanity. At RedBubble we will make mistakes and some things will go wrong beyond our control but we hope the shared vision will keep us generally going in the right direction. So yes: We (still) stand: • For artists / • For the work they create / • For the audiences they inspire / • For the buyers they move. We honour them, their work and their passions. The creative endeavour should be shared joyously with others. All should feel free to join in the show. Peter, Paul and Pilgrim and all the team at RedBubble.
