Enjoy!
When I got my Canon PowerShot A640 in the early Summer of 2007 I started taking various shots in the backyard. This image of a purple Iris was one of the first macro shots I had ever taken, and definitely one of my most popular images here on RedBubble. It was named Iris’ Tongue because it looked to me like it was sticking out it’s “tongue”. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” has been shown as a part of the Flower Power Project Exhibition in Frisco, Texas. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” is available in all print formats offered by RedBubble. / / / / / / / / Check out more of my art from these categories: / Holiday Cards / Abstracts / Sketches / Birds / Seascapes/Landscapes/Sunsets / / Subscribe to art updates / Subscribe to T-shirt updates / Become a fan on FaceBook / Add me as a friend on FaceBook / Follow me on Twitter _____________ /
Had an oppy to meet the founder of Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, She is about 86 years young and still doing well. She indicated that this flower was her favorite in the entire botanical garden, I took about 20 shots from different angles and this is the one I chose. Nikon D70s Nikon 70-300 EDIF lens at about 1:4.5 magnification
Two more in the series after this one… Enjoy!!
The clematis in my garden, next to the potting shed, are in full bloom! Top ten placement in the You’re Accepted group Purple Purple Purple challenge, June 2009
A photograph of a heart shape on a stamen of a small flower. / Diascia Hybrid :)
This is from the series Mars Attack “The Passover” The visitors are passing directly over us as we look in wonder. / All eyes are glued to the sky as we stand and tremble. / The dog is barking at the sky I wonder if he knows? / That soon our whole worlds gonna change forced on us by strangers! / My minds confused as I stand and look what the hell is going on? / Just last week we were in the church praying to Baby Jesus. / But this has put a different player in to my religion. / I wonder who he’s praying to or even if he cares! / My wife’s still looking at the sky as I struggle with my mind. / And all my neighbors are in a trance as this thing go’s by. / And little Trudi’s standing there she’s peed in her new blue jeans. / And her friend Kim from down the street has done the same thing too. / And Mike the guy who’s always ready to come and play some cards. / Is on his knees in his front yard praying up to God. / My mind is still a little foggy as I look to all my neighbors and then Judi comes up to me and says she’s really frightened. / It looks to me that everyones scared as we look at it pass by. / And then I hear someone start to scream so loud it waked me from my thoughts. / Its Janis who’s from the next block over she’s the local artist. / I guess this night will get her busy painting brand new things no more fruit on little tables for this pretty lady. / She’s pointing in the other direction and oh Lord what’s that I see? / As far as my eyes will go are these giant flying sauces. / We all stand and look up at the sky I think someone has fainted! / Yep its Fred my kinky neighbor this is even too much for him as he’s passed out on the front yard in his pink rubber suit. / As far as my eyes will take me its full of flying saucer I guess these things aren’t joking now it looks like they mean business! / And running down the streets towards us is my online friend named Karen. / She’s telling everybody that these things are gonna kill us all. / I tell her to sit on the grass and take a little break if they had wanted us dead it would of been all over. / So here we stand all looking up and all that I can see is the sky so full of visitors to bring a change to our blue Planet! End of Part 4
Macro shot of stamen. / Added some contrast this time / Shot with a Canon EFS 60mm f/2.8 macro lens.
The lovely japonese anemone is a border perennial which manages to survive both in my garden (no mean achievement!) and the rigours of the scottish winter. Flowering from august through to the first frosts… hopefully into october if we’re lucky… I took this hasty handheld macro in a brief sunny interval today … a real lucky catch… alongside michaelmas daisy waiting for a lull in the wind … Details: / Compact Nikon E4800 / f3.7 / 1/300 sec / ISO-50 / focal length 6mm / / As is apart from cropping ;))) / / /

This is not one of the flowers from my show and “Poems for her” / But will be in my book. I dream to find my soul again deep inside my heart. / And when I bring it out to share it starts to cry in pain! / Oh cry your heart out in my chest and come back out no more. / These thing that I want to save you from you must never see again. / Lie deep within my aching heart and weep and weep poor thing. / For what man has created is made from all your pain. / I want to save you from the hurt but you’re so curious. / You want to let the world see what you’re made of. / But the world has changed my friend its moved to a new plane. / One thats lost the virtues that you have as you weep inside. / So come back to me my love and I will nurture you. / And give you what your looking for all my eternal love.
This picture took a long time to create. The flowers (Chamaescilla corymbosa) are very common in the bush near my home, but they are also very tiny, so it is difficult to create a frame free of “clutter”. I wanted the orange flower to be an out-of-focus background contrast to the main blooms, while having all the stamens sharp. Lots of time lying down with the tripod in amongst the jackjumpers! Velvia scan. “Dance with me!” was featured in the group A Beautiful Blur.
The stamen of a Lillium growing in the garden. Loved the gentle orange colour of this flower. Canon 400D Sigma 100-300 macro lens finished in Photoshop CS3.
The heart of a hibiscus flower, glowing in the morning light. This image featured in the group #1 Artists of Redbubble in September 2009. Many thanks! And another feature, in Shapes and Patterns in October 2009. Thanks moderators!
.... despite the nibbled imperfections… a taste of scottish spring ;)) (albeit shot last year on my Nikon coolpix 4800 in macro mode using self timer) Thanks for looking… :)))
