  • A stalking Tiger with an incredibly intimidating stare. Just at the local Zoo, but those eyes still burn through you.

  • There is someone who has been a big influence on my art. I know I am still not very good at doing still life art but I am much better at landscapes. So I thought maybe I could combine the two in a way that was still life in a landscape. This is for you, Boban. And please enjoy these other corn pictures … Corn as far as the eye can see ….. / Blocks of corn fields … /

  • Pale pink gladiola stuck in a piece of driftwood. / I love driftwood pieces. It has so much character. My last name also means “driftwood” in Dutch…

  • Breezy sees something she likes! Cats are so easily distracted!

  • The flower of the beautiful Erythrina lysistemon tree, Southern Africa. / Photography August 2008.

  • My friend’s siamese Gigi stalking the birds from the safety of her mother’s bedroom!

  • It was a bit chilly this morning (10F), and the foxes were in no mood to have me around (except for Pock, the alpha fox, who doesn’t really care if I’m about or not), and tended to stay in the brush. That’s their prerogative, but it does make getting a clean shot very difficult. Add some dull, flat light and you have a dismal setting for wildlife photography. This is one of the other males, who was stalking breakfast in the snow – probably a vole. He was focused enough on this I don’t think he even noticed me much. As long as I stay out of his way, he’s fine with me in his area. Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) / Wheatridge, CO / Sony Alpha700 / Sigma 300/2.8 / Giottos tripod, Acratech ballhead, Wimberley Sidekick ISO200 f/4.5 1/320sec

  • A Vampire gazes through a moonlit window at her intended victim lying peacfully on the couch

  • As is…from my canon G9

  • No idea what sort of flowers these are – but the yellow looked good against the purple

  • Red and the yellow look nice to me…

  • While we were driving on a dirt back road, I just had to stop to capture this gorgeous daylily growing at the edge of the woods. This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact-Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/20th sec at f/5.6. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Fortunately, it was a very calm day, allowing me to use the relatively long exposure time. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist. • I love photographing animals. Althought this is not a live animal, I felt that with a little minor editing it could appear more realistic. The cougar is native to the Americas. This large, solitary cat has the greatest range of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from Yukon in Canada to the southern Andes of South America. The cougar pursues a wide variety of prey. Primary food sources include deer, elk, and bighorn sheep, as well as domestic cattle, horses, and sheep, particularly in the northern part of its range, but it also hunts species as small as insects and rodents.
