My first attempt at some Macro work
As I was out shooting flowers, I felt as though I were being watched…
My sweet little girl, ok she’s not so sweet, but she is fierce.
A cat’s gaze is intense and carries the collective memories of ancient predators. This one in selective color (only in the eyes). This is a repost of an image without the frame so it can be printed as a card.
Out with my new (at least to me) SMC 300mm f/4 today.

This is part of a series of food images, shot almost abstract. It was really enjoyable producing the shots.

A young lowland gorilla shows his youthful curiosity by sniffing a leaf which had fallen in the water
He’s looking for a midnight snack..
My first attempt for growing orchids and this stalk just sprouted and blossomed for me. I got lucky and blessed with such intricate beauty added to my home.
Decided to take these in to the office for my desk… to add a little cheer. Lots of people like them… I know I do… : ) LavenderMoon~
The Secretary Bird, Sagittarius serpentarius, is a large, mostly terrestrial bird of prey. Endemic to Africa, it is usually found in the open grasslands and savannah of the sub-Sahara.Although a member of the order Falconiformes, which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as kites, buzzards, vultures, and harriers, it is so distinctive that it was given its own family, Sagittariidae. It enjoys a certain fame in Africa, specifically Sudan and South Africa, serving as a prominent emblem on both nations’ coats of arms. From a distance or in flight it resembles a crane more than a bird of prey. The Secretary Bird is largely terrestrial, hunting its prey on foot, and other than the caracara it is the only bird of prey to do so habitually. Adults hunt in pairs and sometimes as loose familial flocks, stalking through the habitat with long strides. Prey consists of insects, small mammals, lizards, snakes, young birds, bird eggs, and sometimes dead animals killed in brush fires. Larger herbivores are not hunted, although there are some reports of Secretary Birds killing young gazelles.

I stole an all too brief moment between business appointments to enjoy this beautiful October afternoon in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania farm country. It was truly a breath of fresh air, for the mind, soul and body. The very active cloud filled sky was playing shadow games with the sunlight, all across the expansive landscape. This photograph was captured “handheld” with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens, at the widest focal length. The shutter speed was 1/1000th sec at f/11. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist.
