/ Heart of Gold is a mixed media production on watercolour paper / and one of my most recent paintings The painting itself was inspired by a response to Sylvia, the character in Bryce Courtney’s novel who led the Children’s Crusades during medieval times. In my painting, Sylvia is on a quest, just as I am, always searching for a heart of gold. She has the key to unlocking goodness and kindness and truth hanging from her belt, and she carries a staff with a beautiful flower and wears a crown, symbolising that she is both shepherdess and a leader of her people. Her horse also wears a heart around his neck. They rely on one another for support and encouragement during difficult times.

An old commission I did for a friend on Gaiaonline. I like this, I hope you guys do too…

The National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire is a living tribute to the people of the last century and to reflect this over the past four years some 40,000 trees have been planted and monuments raised in memory of the armed forces, the Merchant Navy, the Police and Fire Service and the Civil Defence. Among the Veterans who have plots at the site are those linked to Dunkirk (the pictured helmet and rifle), Burma and Normandy Campaigns. The project also includes a Visitor Centre and the Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness which is the only one of its kind to be built to celebrate peace in the new millennium and reflect on previous conflict. The Chapel is the only place within the United Kingdom where the Act of Remembrance is observed on every day of the year. Visitors to the Chapel and surrounding areas are invited to stop in silence at 11am to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict.

Another Commission for someone on Gaia. This one if I remember correctly took a very very long time, but I think I did it either earlier this year or last year. Either way I still like it. Other Print Options: /

We read about certain people in medieval times who went about with crystal staffs that could give light at a moment’s notice. / Obviously they have stumbled on scientific knowledge not available to the masses. They kept that knowledge to themselves to achieve the status of wise men. / The wizard’s staff is perhaps an example of the earliest battery-operated torch in history. / / Fractal rendered in Apophysis

What happened to the days of old, / When I was young and free and bold? / Why cant I now be bourne away, / And held only in the winds sly sway. / Where are my wings with thier great breadth? / Whence did go my roaring breath? / Why must I wear this human form, / Instead of what should be the norm? Why arent I free to fly once more, / Up to the heaven’s very door? / What do I miss with these new eyes, / That look up, clouded towards the skies? / But, alas, I can do naught. / But sit and ponder some new thought / Until I am taken by sleep at night / And free my soul to resume its flight. Poem by Meaghan Duke Daz/PS7 and a twisted imagination and penchant for dragons as of late.
