Carved By Nature’s Wrath / The 12 Apostles, Victoria Following a day of torrential rain and gale force winds, the sun shone momentarily, lighting up the moody sky, before plunging the rugged coastline into complete darkness. As night falls, a solitary waterfall is all that remains of the passing storms, returning the much needed rain to the swollen seas of the shipwreck coast. This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. This was taken at a place called Swansea which had these terrific pebbles on the beach. This was the sunset on my first day in Tassie. I managed to get awesome weather the whole time I was there.

This award winning photo was my own personal choice for the place of honor in our home: above the hearth. The photo was taken on a still, misty morning near Port Orford, Oregon, of a man walking his dog on the boulder strewn beach, with the hazy coastal mountains rising up in the background. It’s hard to imagine that it could get any more peaceful and inspiring than this, isn’t it? (Nikon D200, Nikkor DX 18-70 mm 3.5-4.5 ED Lens, Settings f/13.0, 1/640th, ISO 320, 70 mm)

Got up for dawn at Port Campbell only for it to be drizzly and overcast, but by the time I got down to the beach and the sun started to rise some awesome colour came through and it made the early start well and truly worth it! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. Taken looking south to Wollongong from Providential Point, Royal National Park, just south of Sydney Australia. / This is my first attempt at a multi-exposure blend. This image is a combinations of 57 X 30sec exposures using the fantastic Startrails Photoshop Action that you can download free from this excellent site: / www.schursastrophotography.com/software/photoshop/startra… I was put on to this action by Dave Burrow whose amazing startrails image can be seen here: / http://www.redbubble.com/people/davidburrows/art/321722-3-startrails The brilliant thing about this PS action is that the longest exposure you need to take is 30sec and so it virtually eliminates the noise problem of conventional long exposure startrails. You can imagine how much noise this shot would have as a 30min exposure. / The straight lines are some of 9 planes that flew through these exposures over the half-hour I was taking them – amazingly consistent flight paths. It got so busy I had to delete some of the planetrails, hence the little gaps in the startrails.

this is the next in my current series of uploads. All of these IR landscapes were were shot at the old Reshes site on Lachlan street in Sydney some years back when it was being demolished. I took quite a lot of photo’s of the site over a period of time but waited till the sky was just so to use the infrared film…... it just seems to bring out all the latent drama trapped within the mundane….
