SS Sovereign Star ridden by Hamish Cargill from New South Wales competing at the Melbourne Three Day Event, Cross Country phase June 8th 2008. SS Sovereign Star is a 16.2hh, Dark Bay, 10 year old, TB/WB cross gelding owned by Gail Kroon. Eventing is the Equestrian Triathlon – one rider and one horse in Dressage, Cross Country and then Showjumping – this is the extreme sport of Eventing at the highest level. Three-day Eventing, usually abbreviated by horse enthusiasts to “Eventing”, began as a test of the cavalry horse. Military horses were required to travel long distances, negotiate the many natural obstacles, and then perform strict parade manoeuvres. Competitions began in this event in Europe in 1902 and interest in the sport is still concentrated mainly in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. Equestrian events have been on the Olympic program since 1900, when jumping events were held during the Olympics in Paris. However, equestrian events were not held again until 1912 in Stockholm. Since that year, the sport has always been on the Olympic program. The program has been remarkably constant. An interesting footnote to Olympic competition is prior to 1952, equestrian sports events during the Olympics were contested by men only. In fact, the riders had to be military athletes. More specifically, they had to be commissioned officers. In 1952 these restrictions were lifted, and since then men and women have competed against each other in the equestrian events. Car 17 crewed by Eastman and Caldwell gets on the gas on Bindo Boundary Rd, Rally of Lithgow 2009.
Coolest car ever made I think
This was a strange morning, I woke up a 3am to be on the sunshine coast for sunrise. Only to find the beach covered in sea foam. I thought oh well the images will be different. So in I went, within 5 minutes I was covered in foam so was my camera bag and tripod. The sunrise was great. Just as I was finished shooting a lady walking her dog looked me up and down and “said oh my god, you poor thing” Camera – Fuji GX617 / Film – Fuji Velvia 50asa

Salzburg, Austria. And here’s the road that leads up to this.
The shots from this morning shoot are some of my favorites for quite a while.. I haven’t really had the chance to get out and shoot much lately, so it was a great chance this morning to just relax and go shooting :) This is the SS Dicky on Dicky beach at Caloundra. - paul
“S.S. Dicky”, carrying 11 crew and 40 tonnes of sand, was forced onto the beach during heavy seas in 1893. Attempts to refloat the ship were unsuccessful. Wrecked on the now named ‘Dicky Beach’ Canon 30D
Rough seas in 1893 washed the “SS Dicky” ashore, and like an iceberg, is mostly covered by sand these days. After several days of rough seas again the last few days, most of that sand has been washed away, and she is exposed again. This photo taken about the middle of an incoming tide, the seas were 5 metres (about 15 feet). My lens got a nice soaking during this shoot, and I almost lost my footing (and camera) to the swell.. Canon 50D, 10mm. “SS Dicky” Dicky Beach, Sunshine Coast, QLD.
Location / Dicky Beach, Caloundra, Queensland, Australia Description / This is the remains of the shipwreck; the SS Dicky, that washed up onto the beach at Caloundra in 1893.
