As the sun sets in the Mediterranean these fishermen moves their small boats in position to start his work – fishing for squids that live in the clear water. The squids (as well as various fishes) were caught with both fishing lines and spears/5-pronged tridents. Location: Makarska Riviera, Croatia

Lined Dumpling Squid, or Striped Pyjama Squid (Sepioloidea lineolata) under Edithburgh Jetty. This squid is around 5cm long, and quickly buried under the sand after I took one shot. They are seen reasonably regularly on nights dives under the Edithburgh jetty, although this was taken during the day, so I was pretty lucky to find him! Ok, so here’s a little original art. / A couple of things first. I really didn’t intend for this to look like anything in particular and because of this I think it ended up looking like a variety of things. / I bet you could come up with more but for starters: red-feathered wings, squid or octopi limbs, or an abstract heart. / My initial response to the final outcome was “wings, cool.” Then I realized, they’re on the front of the shirt…do’h. I’m okay with whatever you think. I had fun creating it. Thanks :) (p.s. – The title, “Rays” is inspired by the song I was listening to at the time)
