  • One of my favourite beaches is the beach at Glen Brittle. It has black volcanic sand and you can wade out for yards and yards and the water only comes up to your waist. The headlands at either side form a protective curve to the bay … In summer the water can be so warm but in winter??? / This shot was taken when I was caught by a squall coming in from the open sea when I was at the far end of the beach from the car – of course. The beach was totally deserted and I was alone! Needless to say I was soaked by the time I did reach the car. / This is straight out of the camera with no enhancement.

  • Sharpie Markers and Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Doodle’d it in a coffee shop ^^

  • This lonely swan was swimming around as if nothing was happening, even though a heavy squall was rolling in. / Maybe it was feeling blue.

  • Shoppers rush down Main Street as a winter squall fills the sky in Park City, Utah.

  • On Pembrey Mountain we get to see some very dramatic weather passing over the Gower Peninsular – or else we are in the middle of the weather ourselves!

  • Moving back to Arran again and one of the delights of being on an island – the rapidly changing weather: one minute sunny, the next heavy rain and high wind. / This photograph was taken looking south down the east coast of Arran from Corrie towards Brodick and Lamlash. The mountain here is Mullach Mor (1030’) which is on Holy Island which lies a mile or so off Arran itself and is associated with the 6th century Saint Las (or Molas) – hence the name of the mountain and the village of Lamlash on Arran. / The island is currently owned and occupied by a Buddhist community as a retreat and is accessible by boat for those wanting to sample some peace and quiet. / Thanks for looking, / Richard Tech stuff. / Nikon D200 + Nikon VR 80-400mm @80mm / f29 1/30 / ISO 100

  • This was taken in Arlington Vermont during a snow squall.

  • Wind Farm on the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland.

  • Two days later, August 6th, the winds had calmed down a bit. Heavy squalss were passing by, though. When I got home after this, thunder and loads of rain hit us. But, the best time of year is approaching. Late August and September is usually the best time to shoot, as the air is most clear and clouds are passing by in the sky. • Standing on the rocks at the northern end of Gigha (gee-a) I spotted a lone canoe hiding behind the rocks across the little bay as a rain squall was fasr approaching!

  • A bit of departure for me as I love color but some scenes just seem made for B/w and this is one of those in my mind. I hope you agree! Stormy skies at sunset along the rocky coast near Sitka, Alaska

  • Do you see the scene unfolding? The seas are unforgiving, - – - – - – - – - Smoke photography. .

  • Line of storms coming across Beaudesert…this day got a little hairy. We came out of a treed in section with 100km/h+ winds…bringing down massive branches just ahead of the car/trees bending in half – only just got out!

  • This is the line that produced all the damage in Bogabilla, Goondiwindi and the Gold Coast. Was certainly a long day, sat in the Sun for 6 hours for the cap to finally break from the outflow rush of the storms further west battling flies! (29/12/08)

  • The camera really started to get pushed here, but the ISO performance on the new 5D is awesome… This is the line that produced all the damage in Bogabilla, Goondiwindi and the Gold Coast.
