The Frazer Memorial Presbyterian Church, Springwood, NSW, Australia with full blooms surrounding. / There is a nice little history relating to this church and its struggle to become a reality. Its landscaping is always beautiful with blooms of bursting colours. / Built in 1892, it began because of John Frazer, a carpenter and joiner, migrated to Australia from Ireland in 1842. When he passed he left the land and a sum of money to the group that had been meeting in pastures and homes. The estate did not want to give them the money until they could prove there would be enough following to be a substantial difference. It took them 10 years of hard work to raise enough money for the building’s substance and followers to fill her. / The church was classified by the National Trust in 1978. It had, said the Trust, “an architectural quality rare in buildings in the area.”
It’s been raining in the Blue Mountains for a week, but I had to get out and shoot a few. This is the Callistemon Purple Splendour planted in the landscaping of Springwood, NSW, Australia parking garage. Canon 350D with 50mm lens and macro filter. It was set at F/4.5, 1/500 sec and ISO of 400.

I’m sure I can speak on behalf of my colleague contributors to the G26 Braemar Exhibition when I thank Steve for the considerable amount of work he put into the G26 exhibition at Springwood. As I live locally, I went there a few times over the show and Steve was there pottering about on at least 3 occaisons when I turned up. Having seen many exhibitions at Braemar, I think (bias aside) that the G26 show was a particularly varied and vibrant event with a very high standard of work. It was excellent to get the opportunity to be involved and I would thank Steve for his work in organising, curating and physically putting together / closing the show.
