I used to love spring. Sitting in damp cape weed near numerous gurgling springs and streams watching or the summer insects emerge. Sadly the water has not been as prevalent has it has been in the past during spring.
I know that I have a couple of similar pics but this one seems to bring you closer to the action with the wave being so close. Typical late spring weather when the cold, light South Easterlies give way to warmer, strong Westerlies, coupled with large spring tides. The trams are often unable to run along the length of the promenade due to the size of the waves, and only the very brave or foolish step forward of the rows of stores along the promenade. Native only to North America and Bermuda, early settlers were captivated by its friendliness and sweet song. Since then it has been associated with love, joy, and the renewal of springtime. Bluebirds are used to commemorate marriages and anniversaries and are considered messengers of good health and contentment. / / This one hunched on our porch and nested in our birdhouse at the beginning of this year. “http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/community/store.aspstore_id=632&gcu=4158257886”
This is the spring counterpart to my other Barred owl called Winter’s watchman Taken in the same general area in April 2005. You can tell he was just in the swampy water below, either bathing or chasing after a snake to eat, by the wetness present on his feathers.
Mt Warning is part of an mountain range that used to be extinct volcanos. Captain Cook named it as he could see it far out to sea.It rises way above the surrounding flatlands which there are many sugarcan fields. It’s about 1 hour drive from where I live. and it must be the most painted landscape in this area.

From within, everything shines with its own little light. You just have to stop, pay attention, and look closely sometimes.
Just so ready for spring flowerrs. The tulips are several inches tall. The yarrow is delicately making its appearance. The snow is finally gone.
Not just for Dingus Day, pussy willows are among the first welcoming signs of Spring!

Featured in Rhododendrons January 18, 2009. / Placed in Top Ten in the “Springtime Challenge” and *Featured in Seasonal Scapes group, September 24, 2008. This image was taken in the Brighton Azalea Garden in Brighton, Maryland, USA. It is open only during the azalea season, and as such is a very special trip into another world when we can visit here. Coincidentally, the azaleas bloom right around Mother’s Day … so every year what a joy it is to see families bringing their moms and grandmoms here for the day!!! The colors and light are like a shot of smiles to the soul. Hope you enjoy!! Taken with my Nikon D40x using the 18-135mm lens. Obsidian Dawn
Went out chasing some storms and wasn’t having much luck until I drove back over where i’d just come from to find this awesome storm front. It was taken near Amberley west of Brisbane.
LaConner, Washington What says “cottage” more than tulips and lace? I loved seeing this and it has become an all time favorite for me. I hope you are feeling the same. I took this photo at Tuliptown, one of the tulip farms that takes part in the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. You can find out more about it here; / http://www.tulipfestival.org/ Featured HAPPY HAVEN PHOTOGRAPHY group~1 April 2009 / Winning image in “Tulips and something else” challenge of TULIPS group ~ 1 October 2009 / I am featured member for the Tulips group this first week of October. / Avatar for the TULIPS group October 2009 / Second place in “Lace Curtains” challenge of COTTAGE STYLE group ~ 25 October 2009 / Featured in COTTAGE STYLE ~ 11 NOV 2009 The tulip was introduced to Europe in the mid-16th century from the Ottoman Empire, and became very popular in the United Provinces (now the Netherlands). Tulip cultivation in the United Provinces is generally thought to have started in earnest around 1593 after the Flemish botanist Charles de l’Écluse had taken up a post at the University of Leiden and established the hortus academicus. There, he planted his collection of tulip bulbs—sent to him from Turkey by the Emperor’s (Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor) ambassador to the Sultan, Ogier de Busbecq—which were able to tolerate the harsher conditions of the Low Countries, and it was shortly thereafter they began to grow in popularity. The flower rapidly became a coveted luxury item and a status symbol, and a profusion of varieties followed. They were classified in groups; one-coloured tulips of red, yellow, or white were known as Couleren, but it was the multicoloured Rosen (red or pink on white background), Violetten (purple or lilac on white background), and, to a lesser extent, the Bizarden (red, brown or purple on yellow background) that were the most popular. These spectacular and highly sought-after tulip bulbs would grow flowers with vivid colors, lines, and flames on the petals, as a result, it is now understood, of being infected with a tulip-specific virus known as the “Tulip breaking virus”, a type of mosaic virus. / (Excerpt from WIKIPEDIA) All the images and text contained herein may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my express written permission.
