One of my all time favourite spots in the hinterland of Queenslands Gold Coast. This is known as Natural Arch or Natural Bridge at Springbrook. After a good rain, this can really be over-powering and well worth the drive/walk to see it.

This image was bitch to capture and process. There was about a gazillion stops between the highlights and shadows. I think from memory I did a 9 stop bracket to capture the shadow and detail. The processing was really difficult to do without making the image look unreal. Natural Bridge is a pretty cool place to visit in Springbrook National Park in QLD. Enjoy.

Natural Arch in Springbrook National Park, Queensland is a most unusual geological feature created over millions of years by water tumbling through the roof of a basalt cave. Natural Bridge is home to an amazing colony of glow-worms, whose lights can be seen only after sunset. Lookouts and lush rainforest also grace this World Heritage-listed haven, making it one of the most popular parks in Australia. Take the short circuit walk to the natural arch over Cave Creek, and view the unique waterfall and cave. Enjoy a picnic and relax in cool rainforest. Join a nocturnal tour to see delicate glow-worms. / On summer nights, see luminous fungi and fireflies. During the day, hear the calls of paradise riflebirds, green catbirds and wompoo fruit-doves.
These falls are now enclosed by barriers, and hard to get a good possy to photgraph. [Check out Cheyne’s great pics!] / Years ago they were a popular spot for daring youths to jump from though the arch, don’t be fooled ! it is a very long way from the top, and had to be carefully calculated to hit the right spot below. / Night time the cave is alight with glow worms.although I have lived near by for 41 years I have not been at night! Found this little fella at the base of Purling Brook Falls in Spingbrook National Park.
This shot was taken at Springbrook National Park whilst I was taking my nieces and nephew for a rainforest walk. The fog created a brilliant atmosphere and had the young ones talking about fairies and the like.
Love this spot in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Qld. Australia. It is in the mountains where there are a few lookouts and running water and waterfalls as here.
Located in World Heritage listed Springbrook National Park, Purling Brook is one of the most pristine catchments in Australia. The falls plunge 100 metres over the cliff into Purling Brook Gorge, shattering into a miasma of swirling waters and spray. The path to the waterfall base winds down the side of the gorge for several kilometres, until you reach a cement path which in fact leads around under the waterfall itself. Typically the waters tumble well beyond the path, but the occasional gust of wind will bring them back to the cliff face, saturating whoever may be in their way. / / There was quite a lot of water flying about when the shots for this stitched image were taken – the waterfall is around 100 metres tall and generates its own mini climate at the base – but fortunately none of the frequent droplets on the lens hindered the photography and final result.
