Fame and Fortune for Jo O'Brien?

Ok…. Not quite yet… BUT!!! The FUNNIEST thing happened today. I was sitting in the city reading an art book (as you do!) killing time before having lunch with sjem and this nervous woman approaches me and says “Jo O’Brien?” To which I go … “um yeah, hello” Then… get this- she asks for my autograph. I ask her why and she says “you are the Jo O’Brien who modeled for Paul Vanzella right?” I was totally utterly speechless and smiling like the biggest idiot! And going bright red. And making a total fool of myself. But yeah, I signed her tram ticket for her which made her happy. I warned her that it wouldn’t fetch much on ebay just yet :) So yeah, I reckon that makes me famous, so now I get to have temper tantrums celebrity style and demand my coke with no ice at MacDonalds :) As it happens, she and her husband are huge fans of Paul’s work. I’m really excited by this! So yeah… that’s my story if you happened to be interested. I was excited and just had to share :) This totally tops being spotted on the tram or at my work by a long shot!

Special Card Sale
by Rosalie Dale IPAI have been touched by the sale of my card Seeing Spots today – ...
I have been touched by the sale of my card Seeing Spots today – this shot was taken on the platform at Hornsby railway station here in Sydney … and was bought by Earthangel who originally had this to say about the image: I love it but I’m biased – I work for an Australia wide Blindness and Low Vision Agency and I love that you took this pic and won an award for this. Many people take tactile markings for granted but when you know people who have died or fallen down between a train and a platform due to blindness and the everyday difficulties they face – I love these things! This would be a great card for our organisation to sell. Well done love the colour contrast which is also what it’s all about. THANK YOU EARTHANGEL for thinking beyond the box and seeing a way for this work to potentially make a contribution … Rosalie

I went to Havant Thicket yesterday to photograph the birds and squirrels, I have been feeding them and returning there every couple of days so that they will get used to me. I have put up a wire cage that I bought and put into it a berry cake, which is fat mixed with berries, seeds and insects that fits into the cage. On another branch I hung a large fat ball that is mixed with seed. The birds have discovered it now and I have managed to photograph at least 6-9 different species….... I park my car close by with the window down and snap them using my built in zoom on my camera. Yesterday I decided to get out of my car and try and get a bit closer and photograph the birds on the branches instead of the wire cage for a more natural look. As I was standing there something way up in a tree caught my eye…. I saw a flash of red and something white. anyway I strained to see and near the top of the tree I saw it whatever it was and pointed my camera and took some shots. When I got home I quickly downloaded the images and quickly scanned through them, finally I came to what I was looking for…......Wow I had some photos of a Greater Spotted Woodpecker…....a first for me. The photos aren’t good enough to upload but still nice to look at…...so I thought I would show them off on here. Hope you like them. Woodpecker 1 / Woodpecker 2 / Woodpecker 3

Article on my work posted on Talent Data Base. / / “My body is as much a medium as the camera the that captures it. One obvious common thread in my work is myself as the model the performer the subject the photographer.” – Velia Specchio Velia Specchio’s photography is inspired by saints, myths , art history and humanity and focuses on self-portraits. Her work has a fantasy quality with fragments of broken glass appearing to cut up the view into mosaic pieces . Living and working in Pennsylvania, Velia continues to strive for work that comes from the core of emotion and action, not logic and reason. A goal that has surely brought a dark watery depth to the finished images. / Her new work involves exploring the core of human condition. Velia holds a B.S. Degree in Art Ed and Studio Painting. She uses her love of photography and her skills at painting to create a mixed media of photos that are rich with color and imagination. her works are available for purchase here. Emotive Photography's Artist Spotlight
by bchrisdesignsI have been given the wonderful opportunity to interview artists for the Emotive Photography group’s Artist Spotlight section...
I have been given the wonderful opportunity to interview artists for the Emotive Photography group’s Artist Spotlight section. I think this is going to be a great project for all of us to get to know, relate, and learn from each other on a more personal level. A new artist will be interviewed every two weeks and the interviews will be posted every Saturday/Sunday. So, make sure you check back every other weekend to read up on the new artist in our spotlight! I will be going through the group and picking random group members and contacting them to see if they are interested in being interviewed. If they are chosen, I will also choose one of their pieces that best represents why the artist is part of this wonderful group, and include that piece with the interview. The spotlight will consist of 21 questions, pertaining to Emotive Photography, art in general, facts about the artist, and about their collection and chosen piece. I will never ask the same set of questions and will always strive to ask questions that will help us get to know the artist and what makes them tick! As a little bonus, the 21st question will ALWAYS be an off-the-wall style choose-your-own-adventure type of question – just for fun and just to keep us artists on our toes! Each spotlight will be posted in the Emotive Photography group’s forums and a snippet will be posted in my Red Bubble journal and in my b.christopher designs blog with a link to the entire interview (just in case a non-member would like a peek). These interviews have lots of great information about photography and life and do not just apply to our group. Every RB member would benefit from reading them. I will be choosing the first artist this week and will get the interview up by Saturday/Sunday. So, check your Bubble Mails, because it very well could be YOU! So, remember to stay tuned… Plus, if you are not yet a member of the Emotive Photography group, you should check it out. It is a great group of people with some amazing images!

so down at the waterfront the cops want to stop violence and kevin rudd is all ‘binge drinking is an epidemic’ blah blah blah. It’s the Australian way to get fucked up on the weekend and without that release there would be a lot more massacres and shootings and no one wants that…except maybe those involved in the funeral business…so I got a $120 fine for “an open container of liquor” outside a mildly popular nite club. FUCK FUCK FUCK THA POLICE. Go bust some serious crime you time wasters and stealers of air. anyway had to vent that frustration. This whole policy to curb binge drinking is a waste of time. Most people dont get drunk to fight or be a public nuisance…I can be a nuisance without alcohol…but maybe people are drinking to temporarily remove themselves and their brain cells from the world they mostly enjoy yet can not stand at times. so much political correctness, repugnant overbearing advertising and a million other issues that we all carry on our shoulders as if the average joe can really do a fucking thing about petrol prices and rising sea levels. Dont burden us with that, start with the big polluters and big players then we as people will wash our cars less, use paper bags, use toilet water to brush our teeth yada yada yada.
