Well, the temperature was -3 and we were having periods of snow; however, this brave soul was out surfing. They weren’t alone though, there were several others doing the same thing. I had the camera pointed towards the surfer when the wave broke so I grabbed the shot.

From the same day as Dublin Lose, this was earlier in the day and I now know it was Kerry, arch rivals apart from Cork, that Dublin lost too. Taken in Semple Stadium in the neutral territory of Thurles Tipperarry. This guy, a fellow Dub, seemed really pissed off with the football result.

Snow skiing is a group of sports utilizing skis as primary equipment. Skis are used in conjunctions with boots that connect to the ski with use of a binding. Although snowboarding shares the general characteristics of skiing sports, it evolved from surfing and skateboarding and so is not considered a type of skiing. Skiing can be grouped into two general categories. Nordic skiing is the oldest category and includes sport that evolved from skiing as done in Scandinavia. Nordic style bindings attach at the toes of the skier’s boots, but not at the heels. Alpine skiing includes sports that evolved from skiing as done in the Alps. Alpine bindings attach at both the toe and the heel of the skier’s boots. As with many disciplines, such as Telemark skiing, there is some crossover. However, binding style and history tend to dictate whether a style is considered Nordic or Alpine. Thus, in view of its lack of a locking heel, and its roots in Telemark, Norway, Telemark is generally considered a Nordic discipline.(wikipedia.org)

Adrspach rock city, next to the village of Adrspach, Czech Republic, is a paradise for climbers. Beautiful sandstone formations are also popular destination for tourists from many countries. The rocks shown on my photograph are called Major and Major’s wife (Starosta a Starostova). May 2008. Canon EOS 300X, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch, conversion to BW, burn, crop, sharpening.

There was some great shots when only one subject focused and this is my favourite. There are a few other gems from this day, but without signed concent of all the parents I cannot post on the internet. But this one is my so. The photo is as is, other than a rotation and cropping to get the floor line right.
