part of the series of robots whose names end in ‘or’ / as in – ‘tobor’ – whose name is robot backwards / the word robot was first used in a play by the brothers capek / and derived from the russian (turn three times clockwise and spit) word for work / - / this one was inspired yesterday by reading about pullman / which is somewhere in the united states / (where splendour is spelt splendor) / and by seeing some of the exceptional photography of Michelle Boyer
Taken at Hargraves lookout, Blackheath, Blue Mountains, NSW. This really is a magnificent viewing point, though few people ever seem to go there.
Victorian Splendor painted by San Diego artist RD Riccoboni. This gorgeous home blends into the surrounding greenery almost missed to the passer by. / More about this artist Sherman-Gilbert House painted by San Diego artist RD Riccoboni was built in1887 and is a Stick Eastlake Victorian House. This house was built and first owned by John Sherman, cousin of General William Tecumseh Sherman. The “widow’s walk” and circular window are key elements of this also known as a belvedere. This house was the first structure moved to Heritage Park, in the spring of 1971. From 1892 to 1965, sisters Bess and Gertrude Gilbert, patrons of art and music, brought internationally famous entertainers to receptions in their home. Among the artists were Yehudi Menuhin, Ernestine Schumann-Heink, and Artur Rubinstein. The Belevedere was removed by the sisters in the 1940’s and replaced when the house was moved to it’s current location. Rumour has it at the time of removal the US department of Navy requested a blinking red light be placed on the tower to guide incoming planes to Lindberg Air Field. The sister’s agreed hat a red light on their grand home would not be appropriate for the ladies house and they promply removed the structure. Obstacles don’t have to stop you. / If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. / Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it – Michael Jordan My Subject matter tends to be portraits, of people, pets, places and things. Architectural portraits such as this building and home portraits, street scenes both historical places and interesting structure make up a large section of my portfolio. Automobile portraits, I love classic muscle cars and some antique autos. Urban city life in my community makes up a large section of my art also, such as my pictorial commentary on gay culture, beach life and travel and finally landscape. I paint the experience through my art of where I live and places I travel. Having grown up in an old Victorian home, I love old buildings and history, and then mixed in with the everyday activity of the current neighborhood setting and modern color. Two of my favorite places near to where I live are Balboa Park and Old Town San Diego. I go out photograph my city all the time, taking hundreds of pictures, looking for just the right visual or story to portray on canvas back at my studio – RD Beacon Artworks Gallery, shows the San Diego paintings by California artist RD Riccoboni. These art pieces tell the story of San Diego from Old Town to today, created in bold color. The birthplace of California – Old Town, San Diego is featured at the gallery, as well as the first mission and colonial building in the western United States, Mission San Diego De Alcala. Visit the Spanish Colonial fantasy of Balboa Park, the historic Gaslamp district, Little Italy, Point Loma, La Jolla and Coronado Island. The gallery takes you on a colorful tour through art of America’s finest city, San Diego, with paintings by one of America’s favorite artists, RD Riccoboni. Riccoboni appreciates both new and old San Diego, along with the California history that surrounds these settings. The artist went out in search of old homes to paint, and soon realized there was so much more beauty in the overall experience of his city and county and recreate in art a mix of everyday activity in neighborhood street scenes, all in bold color that tells the story of this special place. Beacon Artworks Gallery is located at 2754 Calhoun Street in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.

This is a photo of my dog ZOE. I fell in love with her picture on petfinder.com and traveled three hours to resuce her from a shelter. This was taken in my yard with my Nikon D80.
Bunny enjoying a spectacular show of fireworks. The image has a surreal quality as the bunny seems to somehow be the focus of the excitement, yet he is also the spectator. / See Fireworks extravaganza / /
