/ Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! Turn! Turn! / originally written by Pete Seeger / The Byrds (cover by The Seekers later) To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to be born, a time to die / A time to plant, a time to reap / A time to kill, a time to heal / A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to build up,a time to break down / A time to dance, a time to mourn / A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time of love, a time of hate / A time of war, a time of peace / A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose / A time to rend, a time to sew / A time to love, a time to hate / A time for peace, I swear its not too late ‘Inspiration Series’ card by Karin Taylor “Seasons” is a mixed media production on thick water colour paper using ink pastel acrylic charcoal and texta, this portrayal is slightly different from the original piece in that I have added a blue background and highlights digitally. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Thank you, Imber! Im a sinsere when I write that this was a great surprise and really made my day, and week. Everybody, click on the link and check out Imber’s beautiful imagery!!! Rhiannon is a Welsh goddess known by many names and in many manifestations, associated with light, summer, warmth, abundance, white horses, and birds to name a few. She has many faces and turns up again and again in the great mythic cycles for she is the primal force of nature and life itself. One of her better known manifestations left the realm of Fairie and her marriage celebration with a god in order to elope and wed a mortal. For this she was banished from the fairie dimension, lost immortality, and most of her powers. Still, Rhiannon maintained some relationships with the Fae,small birds, and wild creatures. If you’ve read the Mabinogion, you know she kept herself focused and centered during the many dark years that followed, never abandoning hope. The shadows in the painting are included because as we live, we acquire knowledge of what dwells within those shadows. Like the fairies, shadows may appear to be one thing and later prove quite another. Passing through dark forests in life sometimes leaves us bitter or unteathered spiritually, we might feel aimless, frustrated, or angry. Holding sacred the inner heart light enables us to take both the bitter and sweet of our existance and expand inner vision by seeing beyond our immidiate needs and sensations. Life can and will still hurt, very much so at times, but rather than destroy us the experience can prove transformative. The white dove is sacred in many spiritual traditions, and is included because she’s also associated with Rhiannon (and Aphrodite). Behind it burns the inner fire of Rhiannon’s being. Photographic based digital montage, 2007 (no 2 from series of 3 re-worked). Shot two seperate models & P/S combined them. I also draw in & enhanced part of the headpeice, the body, the dress, added a fringe to the face, hid the eyes, made the features more angular, blew up the lips, created cheekbones, reworked the branches, filtered wallpaper effects, extended the chandelier, added lacework/flower elements, desaturated the lot & added a sepia tone. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers.
Arrested Expansion is a symbolic scene that depicts a combination of self-excluding objects that might not be present in real life. Objects in the secluded room make the viewer feel claustrophobic and unreal, which might be compared to someone’s mental delusion based on a medical condition. Image is a mixture of photo stock with some 2D vectors, and 3D objects. Photoshop, 3ds max, Illustrator. / The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation (VF). The heart has a built-in electrical system. When a contraction happens, blood is pumped. But in ventricular fibrillation, the electrical signals that control the pumping of the heart suddenly become rapid and chaotic. As a result, the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, begin to quiver (fibrillate) instead of contract, and they can no longer pump blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If blood cannot flow to the brain, it becomes starved of oxygen, and the person loses consciousness in seconds. I have always loved ruined and bare country chapels where the outside elements seem to be brought in through the windows and shafts of light. To me, the deep greenwood and forests are nature’s chapels, which can bring you closer to the divine than any grand, gold guilded cathedreal. For me there is no seperation between the divine and the natural world around us…..and I have found peace and harmony many times amongst the sacred Celtic springs and ancient trees in forgotten corners of this country. This image was particularly inspired by the small holy wells of South West Cornwall, where even to this day poeple leave offerings and gifts to the water elements and the old Gods.
Open the Door and Let Her In…... The woman watches / As the broken man begins to dance, / Could it be that in her presence / He is falling apart, / Or that the warmth of her gaze, / Finds him gradually becoming whole again. / His freedom, her absolution. The words fall useless on the ground, / Letters spilling into the dirt / Meaning discarded, / A blank page lays crumpled before her / Staring without judgment / At her trembling hand. / Reason is beyond reproach. Time tiptoes past unnoticed / On its way to someone else’s story / Hope follows regardless / And the sun rises and sets / On useless thoughts unguarded. / Who dares to walk this path? / Yet who dares to not. / / The woman listens / As the silent man begins to sing / The words dust themselves off / And join the fragile notes / In a private dance of healing / Truth’s melody cuts through time / And lays memory bare, Forgive me, it sings / I am only human. Thank you from the heart to Linaji / for her nomination of myself and this artwork, to the amazing Pay It Forward Group. I am deeply honoured to have my work included in this prestigious circle of creative souls, so thank you to the group hosts and especially to dear Linaji for her nomination and the following beautiful words that went with it….. / / “Wendy Slee has my vote for her image Forgiveness and her poem of the same name. Wendy and this image came to me at a perfect time in my life when I was at the point of allowing total forgiveness towards my father. Sacred Universe The ancient motifs of basic circle and spiral are widely recognized as metaphors for fertility, continuity, and the Goddess. Simplicity is deceiving, because the spiraling circle is also the template of physical reality. The design and proportion of sunflower heads, pine cones and snail shells are only a few examples. DNA, cell division, whirlpools, hurricanes, our galaxy, the nature of time itself are all based upon the same blueprint; wholeness and all life being interconnected. Its not surprising many earth centered and eastern cultures emphasize circle and spiral in religious and spiritual philosophy, but abstract thought such as Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, physics, the Golden Ratio, and Phi are all based upon it. Life on the physical, mental and spiritual plane is the spiraling inward/outward journey. Star fire burns in the nucleus of every cell; we are spiritual beings who’ve forsaken our origins. We are all relations; claim the birthright and initiate mending the hoop of the world. Parent to child we form a living bridge, the umbilical cord connecting past with future. / Maybe the universe herself is in a fetal stage, drifting upon the silent current of space and time that is the womb of the great goddess. acrylic on paper 14”x17” / Dancing in lighted pools of Jello-textured neon. “That’s the way to do it,” an old stranger called to the young man who, being suddenly aware of what he was doing, stopped, looked over his shoulder and glanced down at the ragged multi-colored sheet that was pulled tightly around his shoulders. He leaned back and peered up at the sun. Smoke rose from the side of a brick building and the odor or ginger floated through the air. The source of both puzzled him, as he remembered distinctly thinking he was the only person in the world just a few moments before. The old man smiled a toothless smear of flabby lips and bowed down to the dancing youth, who smiled back, jiggled aimlessly for a few seconds on thin, scratched legs and then sat down on a patch of grass in from of a building that had been painted by clowns. The young man pulled back the corner of his gown of rainbow hues and let out his heart, which had been beating all along, but in being freed, started to do a dance all of its own, though it had no legs. It also sang, which surprised the young man as he had always thought he was mute.
So the body of a man is the husk which perishes; but the soul, the spiritual embryo, starts into new life of precisely the same nature as it has before. Emotions Resist them, and they will destroy you. / Wallow in them, and they will drown you…. / BEcome them and they will rule you. Yet these are the radio waves between the inner core of your being and the All There Is…a link between your knowing and not knowing…… an elusive clue to your many questions.
