”....Drive my dead thoughts over the universe, / Like wither’d leaves, to quicken a new birth; / And, by the incantation of this verse, / / Scatter, as from an unextinguish’d hearth / Ashes and sparks, my words among mankind! / Be through my lips to unawaken’d earth / / The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind, / If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?” Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “Ode to the West Wind”
well we got hit again,, It has been snowing all day!!
The paths around Magnolia Plantation, SC, built along the Ashley River, near Charleston SC. This is the real garden of good and evil, built before the civil war by slaves. The gardens are wonderful, but the cost of reclaiming the land from the river and swamps loaded with alligators and snakes must of been very difficult, with the loss of life I would assume. Anyway, it is georgous today as you walk the back trails thru the gardens you can almost see the ghosts of the past and the brave men who built this beautiful plantation and it makes you think of this country and the men who built it. By the way, the little statue is a replica of the one used in the movie, “The Gardens of Good and Evil” although the book was not about this but rather set in Savannah GA, it is appropriate for this beautiful garden. Beautiful Oak trees like this one, hundreds of years old florish in the south. The spanish moss is an air plant that does not harm the trees. In the old days people stuffed their mattress with the moss (only to discover it’s full of chiggers!) if you pick some up off the ground it’s a good idea to put it in the microwave before you use it…

Not sure if this grass survived our winter.. but I liked the image it presented.
This is a stream in the untouched mountains in western Massachusetts. Over the winter the entire bottom of the river was ice and the fresh cold water ran down the ice. It’s such a pretty place
Ostara is the Faery Goddess of Spring. She is busy painting beautiful colors on the budding flowers like roses and tulips. She is a symbol of renewed life. She is dressed in spring colors of lemon yellow, pastel green, and pink. She has holding a Robin, a bird that is represents that spring is here and she carries a stem of roses and a tulip. She lives in a wooden faery house made from fallen tree bark with a stone chimney near a forest of trees with green foliage, rose bushes and tulips. A lovely stone walkway trails up to her wooden door. Since she is the faery of the spring equinox she has night and day in equal amounts with a shimmering full moon and bright golden sun on the horizon. This illustration is comprised of my own graphic designs and drawings.
In the spring, when the ice is melting off the lakes, rivers and creeks, the water levels increase. Sometimes the water is channelled away fom the main flow, as it was in this instance. A small stream was diverted over these rocks, which only see water at this time of the year. Aaron Provincial Park, Dryden, ON.
