I knew I couldn’t come back from Egypt without a shot of the Pyramids and a shot of the Sphinx, so I thought I’d save space and take them both in the same shot. A fair bit of experimentation has taken place in the processing department with a few new techniques I’ve trialled, so feel free to tell me its crap if you don’t like it.
This is a shot of the large Sphinx like Statue that is in front of the Luxor Hotel casino in Las Vegas. The Decor in this hotel is amazing.

This is my most recent historical-fantasy work. The “Prophecy” title pertains to the reference of a shift in global thinking whereby humankind will soon evolve to a new and elevated state of universal awareness. Within our lifetime we will witness the emergence of Compassion over Greed, in how the citizens of the World conduct business and their personal relationships. Intelligence will blossom with the embracing of psychic enlightenment and a significant progress will be made, in our understanding of additional dimensions that exist within our Natural World. Wild animals will be treated with reverence and all beings will live in a harmonious respect for each other. I look forward to this new Age of awakening… do you? A new World Vision we all can share in… which reminds me to tell you that all sales of this item benefit the great organization “World Vision”. Thank you for helping me to help them. ~ Skye
My trip wouldn’t be complete without the sphinx…. / yes, another dream come true for me… / HDR….and some PS work…

Your lovers are not dead, I know. They will / rise up and hear your voice / And clash their cymbals and rejoice and run to / kiss your mouth! And so, Set wings upon your argosies! Set horses to / your ebon car! / Back to your Nile! Or if you are grown sick of / dead divinities Follow some roving lion’s spoor across the copper- / coloured plain, / Reach out and hale him by the mane and bid / him be your paramour! This is part of a poem that Oscar Wilde wrote for Marcel Schwob in 1894 “in friendship and admiration.” The whole poem called The Sphinx – is really worth a read. Mandrill Baboon mother does what mothers do to her progeny at Melbourne Zoo. The Mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) is a primate of the Cercopithecidae(Old-world monkeys) family, closely related to the baboons and even more closely to the Drill. . The Mandrill is the world’s largest species of monkey. / The Mandrill is recognised by its olive-coloured fur and the colourful face and rump of males, a colouration that grows stronger with sexual maturity; females have duller colours. Males can weigh up to 60 lbs (30 kg), females about half as much (30lbs). Unusually large males can weigh 110 lbs (50 kg).[2] They can grow to be about 1 m long (39 in) and can survive up to 31 years in captivity. Females reach sexual maturity at about 3.5 years. / The Mandrill is found in the tropical rainforests of southern Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Congo. / The Mandrill is an omnivore and acquires its food by foraging (mainly plants, insects and smaller animals) from the ground as it is terrestrial. Its main natural predators are leopards, pythons and man. A large group of mandrills can cause significant damage to crops in a very short time, and where common they are widely perceived as pests. Mandrills are hunted for food throughout their range, either with guns or using dogs and nets. In Cameroon, habitat loss to agriculture is also a threat. Although the Mandrill does not normally hunt larger prey, males have been observed to hunt and consume duiker (a small antelope). / ~Wikipedia / Panasonic FZ20 / 87mm, 1/125s, f/4.0, ISO :200

What a surprise i had today.here in Summit County, Colorado. While photoing finches on thistle flowers this small whirring insect came into view. I thought at first it was a hummingbird as its wings were moving at lightning speed but soon I saw that it was not. I took a lot of shots without having time to adjust any settings on my camera as i was afraid it would leave. Since coming inside to my PC I was able to research it and discovered what it is. Below a bit of information. As soon as the sun sets during the warm part of the year from much of southern Canada down to Central America, large White-lined Sphinx (Hyles lineata) moths will emerge, and like nocturnal hummingbirds, these amazing fliers can be seen zooming around the garden and hovering before flowers as they sip nectar. Occasionally, these hummingbird-like moths can even be seen during the daytime, especially late in the season. These fast-flying moths are difficult to photograph in flight unless they are hovering before flowers and the light is good, but later in the evening, White-lined Sphinx moths can often be found resting near outside lights where they are much easier to observe and photograph. Often mistaken for a hummingbird, the White Lined Sphinx Moth is about 2 to 2 1/2 inches in length. It is extremely beautiful and its wings make a purring, or humming sound as the insect moves, using the same quick hover-and-dart technique that a hummingbird has! Canon 40D / Lens 70-300mm
