Fluffy slippers, gingham apron (specially sewn for this shoot) and hair rollers are bound to get strange looks from on-lookers… At least the guys in the laundromat may be convinced to do their laundry more often! So after my grisly death last week, Mrs. Flibble had a go at sticking back my shredded body with some domestic strength wood glue. Apparently it took her quite a while, and she tells me she only had a few bits left over. I think she did a pretty good job, although I’ve yet to try out all bodily functions. Anyway. After a quick jump-start I was left with the arduous task of recharging my brain back up to 30 percent. Any more than that and things can go horribly wrong. You wouldn’t like to see me when I’m 31 percent, let alone 32. Splendid. A couple of points of note: This photo was excruciatingly painful to make. I really did clamp that clip to my ear and it has a mighty strong spring. Lit with two flashes: main was from above camera left through an umbrella and second was from bottom right reflected off something spangly for a bit of fill. Sparks of hot molten steel are ejected as Weston-super-Mare’s blacksmith Nathan Bennett re-forms a freshly heated strip of iron. Nathan was happy for me to stand at a safe distance while I worked hard to click in synchrony with his hammer strikes. In the film era this would have been a much more expensive exercise, for sure! I’ve had lots of great feedback from this photo (in other places as well as on RedBubble) and I was pleased to give Nathan a RedBubble-laminated print as a thank-you gift. / . / A HUGE Thank You to the People At Work Group for featuring this photo in Sept/Oct 2009! / . /

Featured in National Parks of the World – Dec 2008. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Captured today… I jumped in my trusty old Toyota Landcruiser (Barry) and headed bush to chase this spectacular storm front. It was such an exhilarating adventure! We have now enjoyed several weeks of ongoing storm activity here in the desert. Today’s wild and rainy storms began at around eight this morning. Throughout the day, storm front after storm front has rolled over the desert, bringing with them heavy rain and exhilarating electrical activity. We have endured hail today, strong winds and even a lightning strike which sparked a small blaze in the National Park. And all of these incredible storm sessions were punctuated by bright sunshine and warm temperatures. Wow, I am thoroughly exhausted from following the weather today. This pic is as it was when I captured it. 2 Nights ago we had a small ice storm, it left about 2 centimeters of ice on every roof, electric lines and every trees in the locality, I have my share of trees surrounding the house, lilac,pines, maples, cedars and bushes of all kind. / Yesterday night was a full moon, the sky was clear of all clouds and the moonlight was very bright with no fog, here are some photos of a series I took around the house, some in total blackness with no street lights to disturb the beautiful bluish rays and hues of the moon and some have a little spark coming from the orange tinted lamp post we have as street lights in front of my house. / This is much better viewed larger, you’ll see… / Hope you enjoy the pics and thank you for viewing! 1-WOOOOOOW! Well we have heard of rainbows, and moonbows, but how about a fogbow? / I was hiking along my favorite road in Cades Cove, Sparks Lane, one foggy morning. I had been following a buck and his doe. Dont know what inspired me to turn around, but when I did I saw this. Was a great Christmas treat for me. / First time ever I have seen a fogbow. It was -20F, and I had to lie in the snow, waiting for that instant. It lasted … a few seconds … and then … it was over. After all that suffering, I was suddenly stricken by the realization that carrying the now-frozen lamp back into the warm house would put at terrible risk of breaking …. my departed mother’s hundred-year-old lamp! Oh, sure! A rational person would have just PhotoShopped something. But NO! I wanted my vision to be authentic …. yet …. eventually conceded to add the foreground grass. Ever wonder just how hot hell’s kitchen really is? Me neither….but I bet it would resemble something like this… More fun with this technique. The logo on his shirt is light stencil popped at angle to match his pose. Converted from Canon’s sRAW with no editing. I was shooting for a stop motion film in the afternoon and had it set to ‘sRAW’ and forgot to reset the quality before I went shooting at night…oooops. Captured at the 2009 Harborfest in Norfolk, VA. This was taken during an underwater dive demo, the crew of the Salvageship Cromo, demonstrated the techniques of cutting steel underwater while wearing an antique but 100% functional dive suit and helmet. Best viewed in LARGE for sure!
