I drew this a few years back when I was first experimenting with pen and watercolours. / I’ve always liked the drawing but not known what to do with it, so I’ve kept it simple and added it to the bubble!

First fish Freddy of the original Siamese Fighting Fish clan, blasts off in his bowl. His mission, to avenge the insults levelled at his earth cousins, by grumpy humanoids. Aggressive and down in the mouth, indeed! He would show them, the water in his bowl was adjusting for space flight, shimmering slightly as the shock wave passed and he entered orbit. Soon he would shut down the hyperlink wormhole drive, drift gently into suspended animation, and wait. He clutched his shoalshifter, armed with the latest IRBMs (inter-reef ballistic missiles) and smiled, not that anyone would have noticed. He drifted into a deep sleep, as his bowl iced over and sped towards earth… My offering in a three-way collaboration. ChrisW wrote the story, “Dinner With Fighting Fish” and will add a ref photo. If my image fits Chis’ concept, then master paintograher, Cliff Vestergaard, will weave his magic.

Sacred Universe The ancient motifs of basic circle and spiral are widely recognized as metaphors for fertility, continuity, and the Goddess. Simplicity is deceiving, because the spiraling circle is also the template of physical reality. The design and proportion of sunflower heads, pine cones and snail shells are only a few examples. DNA, cell division, whirlpools, hurricanes, our galaxy, the nature of time itself are all based upon the same blueprint; wholeness and all life being interconnected. Its not surprising many earth centered and eastern cultures emphasize circle and spiral in religious and spiritual philosophy, but abstract thought such as Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, physics, the Golden Ratio, and Phi are all based upon it. Life on the physical, mental and spiritual plane is the spiraling inward/outward journey. Star fire burns in the nucleus of every cell; we are spiritual beings who’ve forsaken our origins. We are all relations; claim the birthright and initiate mending the hoop of the world. Parent to child we form a living bridge, the umbilical cord connecting past with future. / Maybe the universe herself is in a fetal stage, drifting upon the silent current of space and time that is the womb of the great goddess. We found a pink girly bike on the side of that road on the way to this shoot so naturally it was added to the already huge pile of random stuff in the boot. I jumped in the pool with these crazy musicians and kept handing them props and directing them to complete various acts of underwater stupidity. James managed to stay dry by offering to operate the camera through a viewing window. I also shot some film with an underwater camera but I’ve been really slack and haven’t developed it yet. If I’m lucky, being in the hot car for this long will have screwed it up a bit and I’ll get magical surprises when I finally make some prints. models: Jase and Tom www.joobrien.com
