  • The beautiful colours of a peacock.

  • This is one amazing island that you all must try to get to, if you don’t mind four days in rough seas on a boat that is!!! But it is truly worth it…. This image of these king penguins was taken at a place called “Salisbury Plain”, where there are approximately 250 000 penguins! The sound as you come over the hill is tremendous, not to mention the smell!! They are so friendly and try to come up to you, but you are supposed to stay five meters away! / / (South Georgia – on the Antarctic trip) / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

  • Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • After viewing the display of Juanita (a mummified child sacrifice discovered in the crater of a volcano) at Arequipa’s Museo Santury, I found these steps just off the main courtyard. The museo is housed in an old colonial building in the central region near the plaza de armas, in Arequipa, Perú.

  • Along the Drakensberg escarpment in Mpumalanga, South Africa, there is a place called God’s Window. A path leads away from it, up the hill. But I wonder… does it really stop at the top? Should anybody be interested in buying this as a card with text, just drop me a bubblemail.

  • I describe this scene as pure bliss. It was taken on Island Beach, Kangaroo Island, South Australia with no-one else around in summer. Perfect. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera.

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery View from Mt Kaputar Stopped to take in this spectacular view on my way up to the Summit of Mt Kaputar, New South Wales, Australia. Mount Kaputar National Park is located on 36,817 hectares and is 50 kilometres east of Narrabri and 570 kilometres north west of Sydney. Mount Kaputar National Park consists of a gathering of sharp peaks and rocky ranges, the remnants of a 17 million year old volcano. Millions of years of erosion have carved this volcanic pile into the Nandewar Range, with its dramatic landscape of lava terraces, volcanic plugs and ring dykes. At the peak of the range is Mt Kaputar, which reaches an altitude of 1510m. From the summit it is possible to take in 360 degree views encompassing one tenth of NSW. The National Park is popular with rockclimbers. There are 11 walks in the national park, most offering spectacular views of the area. The park protects a wide variety of plant communities, including semi-arid woodlands, wet eucalypt forests and subalpine heaths. Wildflowers in spring provide a magnificent display. It’s home to a host of animal species, and provides a haven for many threatened species – including bats, birds, wallabies, quolls and a unique large pink slug, which often appears after rain.
