  • so peaceful / so relaxing / so beautiful

  • Sorrento beach at low tide. / Strangely the rocks and rock pools point the casual observer towards the best place to fish. If you look into the distance you’ll notice the small silhouette of a fisherman.

  • This was taken in Sorrento, Italy and it is my first crack at ‘miniatures’ or ‘tilt shift’ photography, using Photoshop. This was also originally taken on film and scanned to digital.

  • Sorrento Jetty just before sunrise

  • Lightning. / Sorrento, Florida. / 10 July 2004. / Nikon Cpix 5700. Living in Alaska now, I don’t get to watch much lightning. It just doesn’t happen very often in southcentral Alaska. But in Florida? My oh my, you could nearly set your watch to the afternoon thunderstorms that would tear across the Floridian peninsula in the thick of winter. And then there were the evening squalls – massive belts of charged electricity that would rage across the state like a linear avalanche of energy. Those were my favorite, those evening thunderstorms that would come and go within the limits of a single hour, discharging an incredible amount of energy across the state. This lightning bolt was from one of the squalls that passed over Sorrento, a small rural community in Lake county, Florida. Standing on the edge of a golf course (not too far from our house), I had a great place to watch the storms move in—and still have time to duck back inside before getting drenched in the rain that would soon follow. Note to Buyers: This is an old and cropped file from a Nikon CoolPix 5700 (before I upgraded). I wouldn’t recommend buying this until I’ve purchased a sample for myself and proofed it. If I’m happy with it, I’ll remove this message. If I’m not, I’ll remove the SALE option. Janson, / http://floridana.typepad.com

  • These jetties stretching into Port Phillip Bay from the Point King beach near Sorrento on Victoria’s Mornington peninsular have enticed so many visitors and photographers, but keep rewarding us in all weathers and conditions.

  • A beautiful view but with a sombre element. The sun is setting not behind cloud but the smoke from the current bush fires in Victoria.
