Gold Dust / Tori Amos Sights and Sounds / pull me back down / another year I WAS HERE / I WAS HERE Whipping past / the reflecting pool / me and you / skipping school / And we make it up / as we go along / We make it up as we go along You said you raced from Langley / pulling me underneath / a cherry blossom canopy / Do I have / of course I have, / beneath my raincoat, / I have your photographs. / And the sun on your face / I’m freezing that frame And somewhere Alfie cries / and says “Enjoy his every smile / You can see in the dark / Through the eyes of Laura Mars” / How did it go so fast / you’ll say / as we are looking back / and then we’ll understand / we held gold dust / in our hands Sights and Sounds / pull me back down another year I WAS HERE / I WAS HERE Gaslights glow in the street / (flickering past) / Twilight held us in her palm / as we walked along / And we make it up / as we go along / We make it up as we go along Letting names / Hang in the air / What color hair / (auburn crimson) / Autumn knowingly stared / and the day that she came / I’m freezing that frame / I’m freezing that frame And somewhere Alfie smiles / and says “Enjoy her every cry / You can see in the dark / Through the eyes / Of Laura Mars” How did it go so fast / You’ll say as we are looking back / and then we’ll understand / We held gold dust / in our hands in our hands

  • Sold as a framed print, a mounted print and a card in mid 2007, and as a mounted print in December 2008. Shade and honey I could look in your face for a thousand years / it’s like a civil war of pain and of cheer / but if you were a horse / I could help you with your chains / I could ride you through the fields / by your fiery mane May your shade be sweet / and float upon the lakes / where the sun will be / made of honey

  • Theme and variation. I played around with this in Picassa 2. Halleleujah Well I’ve heard there was a secret chord / that David played and it pleased the Lord / but you don’t really care for music do ya? / It goes like this – the fourth, the fifth / the minor fall, the major lift / the baffled king composing halleleujah Leonard Cohen

  • Beached / did i think / if I left my body untended / momentarily / I would lose the way back / drown in my mother’s image / who is lost / and drifting aimlessly / in unknown shoreless seas / did I make / of thought an anchor / and a crown / a heavy chainbound god / to whom I clung / in desperation / bereft / with nothing else / to call my own / the world I inhabit / is not my own / I squat / on the shore / counting and recounting / particles of sand / my father’s house / is crumbling to the ground / if I am finally set adrift / washed free by waves / and pulled / into the tidal swell / all markers will be lost / and I / a piece of driftwood / bleached to bone / might drift to shore again / might not return

  • I’m not quite sure if this works, so feel free to let me know what you think. Cheers. :o) “Horses In My Dreams” / P J Harvey Horses in my dreams / Like waves, like the sea / They pull out of here / They pull, they are free Rode a horse around the world / Along the tracks of a train / Broke the record, found the gold / Set myself free again I have pulled myself clear Horses in my dreams / Like waves, like the sea / On the tracks of a train / Set myself free again I have pulled myself clear

  • Horses / Tori Amos I got me some horses / To ride on, to ride on / They say that your demons can’t go there / So I got me some horses / To ride on, to ride on / As long as your army keeps perfectly still And maybe I’ll find me a sailor / A tailor / And maybe together we’ll make mother well / So I got me some horses / To ride on, to ride on / As long as your army / Keeps perfectly still You showed me the meadow / And Milkwood and Silkwood / And you would if I would / But you never would / So I chased down your posies / Your pansies in my hosies / Then opened my hands and they were empty then Off with Superfly / Sniffing a Sharpie pen / Honey it’s Bill and Ben / Off with Superfly / Counting your bees / Oh me honey like / One two three / The camera is rolling / It’s easy like one, two, three And if there is a way to find you / I will find you / But will you find me if Neil makes me a tree / An afro, a pharaoh / I can’t go, you said so / And threads that are golden don’t break easily I got me some horses / To ride on, to ride on / They say that your demons can’t go there / So I got me some horses / To ride on, to ride on / As long as your army keeps perfectly still

  • Ok, I tried to portray the moment where the Universal Migrator is born and divides itself in many Migrators. This is based on the second track of Ayreon’s conceptual album The Universal Migrator Part II: Flight of the Migrator, which is pure unadultered space opera/sci fi madness with keyboards, metal and all that stuff. Lyrics: Ayreon – Dawn of a Million Souls At the birth of time, the beginning of beginnings / One cosmic soul was created / A bringer of life, a universal migrator / Born to sow its seeds in all the galaxies Like a cell dividing, it spreads in all directions / Creating life among the stars / I’m struck with awe as I join the great migrator / Now it takes flight to the brightest star of all On a quest for life, through the sable skies / What a show! behold! / The dawn of a million souls On a bold crusade, in the realm of shade / What a show! behold! / The dawn of a million souls Through the glowing mist, like a fog of radiation / I can see the forming of new planets / I’ve been struck by thunder as I witness all the splendor / And I realize how small we really are Oh, I can see forever / On the wings of dreams I fly / Is this real or is it just a fantasy? / What awaits me now at the end of this ride?

  • This is a pencil drawing I’ve played with in Picassa2. Thrasher / Neil Young They were hiding behind hay bales, / They were planting / in the full moon / They had given all they had / for something new / But the light of day was on them, / They could see the thrashers coming / And the water / shone like diamonds in the dew. And I was just getting up, / hit the road before it’s light / Trying to catch an hour on the sun / When I saw / those thrashers rolling by, / Looking more than two lanes wide / I was feelin’ / like my day had just begun.

  • acrylic and pencil on canvas A beautiful lyric from a beautiful Radiohead song

  • Theme and variation Tori Amos – After All Lyrics please trip them gently, they don’t like to fall, oh by jingo / there’s no room for anger, we’re all very small, oh by jingo / we’re painting our faces and dressing in thoughts from the skies, from paradise / but they think that we’re holding a secretive ball / won’t someone invite them, they’re just taller children / that’s all, after all man is an obstacle, sad as the clown, oh by jingo / so hold on to nothing, and he won’t let you down, oh by jingo / some people are marching together and some on their own / quite alone / others are running, the smaller ones crawl / but some sit in silence, they’re just older children / that’s all, after all i sing with impertinence, shading impermanent chords, / with my words / i’ve borrowed your time and i’m sorry i called / but the thought just occurred that we’re nobody’s children at all, after all live your rebirth and do what you will, oh by jingo / forget all i’ve said, please bear me no ill, oh by jingo / after all, after all

  • This is exactly what it looks like – a sketch-doodle I made while listening to Pain’s Shut Your Mouth over and over again*, on the 11th of April, 2007. / ... / I’m not going to pretend that it’s art or design, but something about it really appeals to me; it’s like his heart has been SHOT out of his chest and he’s reeling from the impact. / ... / (Or I could be reading too much into it because I’m playing loud industrial music very late at night, and I’ve just had a weird tea that calls itself “Rooibos and Vanilla” but tastes like delirium.) / ... / * The Swedish industrial metal band, Pain, that is, not the American one. Shut Your Mouth is one of my favourite songs, and has a catchy riff that will stay in your head for YEARS. You can visit them on MySpace if you wish, but be warned, their lyrics contain some profanity. / ... / Dear buyers: If purchasing this image as a card (which is an interesting choice and I’m not sure what festive occasion it would be appropriate for), I highly recommend the WHITE backing colour, otherwise it will look like his legs have disappeared. / ... / Image quality: / The preview image to the left has been JPEG compressed by RedBubble for security purposes. The original image is high quality and has true, consistent colours. / ... / / ...
