  • Bluebell Woods
    by Ed Stone

    US$4.66–US$106.40

More from the Lightscapes Set Poem: The Secret Place From: The Ice Cream Store. Toronto: Harper Collins Publishers, 1991. There’s a place I go, inside myself, / Where nobody else can be, / And none of my friends can tell it’s there— / Nobody knows but me. It’s hard to explain the way it feels, / Or even where I go. / It isn’t a place in time or space, / But once I’m there, I know. It’s tiny, it’s shiny, it can’t be seen, / But it’s big as the sky at night . . . / I try to explain and it hurts my brain, / But once I’m there, it’s right. There’s a place I know inside myself, / And it’s neither big nor small, / And whenever I go, it feels as though / I never left at all.

Featured in Streetscapes 7th December, 2008 The view of St Andrew’s Church from the roadway at Blagdon Lake. The Church has a 116-foot tower with pinnacles and a cusped lozenge pattern parapet, with a stair turret spirelet in the north-east corner. The tower was built between 1907 and 1909 by Lord Winterstoke (of the Wills tobacco family). The tower contains a bell dating from 1716 and made by Edward Bilbie of the Bilbie family. It is a Grade II listed building The lychgate to the east of the church is also a Grade II listed building in its own right. Above the door are four primitive Norman carvings which survived three rebuildings. The church is in Balgdon, Somerset, England.

  • Forde Abbey
    by NATURELENS

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Forde Abbey, Near Chard, Somerset. A privately owned estate whose house and gardens are open to the public. I believe parts of the house date back to the13th century when it was a monastery/abbey. Well worth a visit, the gardens have something to offer year round but particularly towards the end of February/Early march where there are carpets of crocus and dwarf daffodills and later in the year the bog garden really comes to life. There is also an excellent plant centre open from March to October/November.

  • Fire and Water
    by kernuak

    US$4.32–US$98.80

The last peek of the setting sun produced vivid pinks and oranges in the sky. A standard polariser would have destroyed the reds, but a combined polariser and warming filter was able to preserve them. The addition of a reverse ND stop grad filter evened out the exposure in the sky, while careful use of HDR returned the detail in the reflections to give the appearance of it being on fire. / Kilve Beach, in north Somerset, is an inspirational place for geologists and fossil hunters alike, it also makes for otherwordly photos and spectacular sunsets. Camera: Canon 40D / Lens: Canon 17-40mm f/4 / Filters: Singh-Ray warming CPL and reverse ND grad / Edited using Photomatix Pro and Photoshop Elements 5

  • Dark Tor
    by Mark Tisdale

    US$4.37–US$99.94

This is the top of Glastonbury Tor. There are many legends associated with the tor. Prominent among them, in the Arthurian legends, Glastonbury Tor is often considered to be part of Avalon. In ancient times, the tor would have been an island in a marshy land, but it was later drained and now the Tor rises out of the village of modern day Glastonbury. The tower on the top is the remains of a 14th century church that was destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539. The tower is all that remains of that church and was restored in modern times.

  • Home on the Levels
    by JamieP

    US$3.99–US$91.20

  • I really like this shot, but i ran out of patience and left this spot earlier than i should have, 20 mins later and back in the car i looked back and there was one of the best sunsets ever, it would have made an amazing photo, next time.

  • I revisited this place today in the hope of getting some shots of stormy weather, the weather here has been crap all week, i was hoping for a bit of lightening. I got there at the end of a storm and the sky cleared, i managed to catch this high cloud at sunset, not exactly what i wanted, but its nice enough
