This is Jamil. When we met him just over a year ago he had rescued over 70 cats from the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Maylasia. He is truly an amazing man, he lives in a small flat with all his cats. Most nights you can find him outside the convenience store, collecting money for his beloved companions. It is wonderful and totally unbelievable – the cats sit on the bike for about 4 hours a night without getting off. They have a special communion with Jamil and respect him. But they only listen to him in English and not Malay! If they do start to stray, he chastises them in English, and they get back on the bike again. I think there is a rota for his pussies, they take it in turns to come out for the night. He also has a rota for which cats sleep with him at night. He is desparately trying to raise money to build a proper cat shelter. This is one of Jamil’s favourite pussies who is quite happy to be put in this position and stays like this for ages! The tribute to a gorgeous Basset Hound (Fred) who was my wonderful companion for 9 years. / pix © www.shhevaun.com / 0419363057 All Rights Reserved 2006 Untouched work shot on Nikon D60 (a cheap film SLR) with two studio lights I have a studio in New Farm Brisbane and love shhooting Dogs and their owners! Initially this image was to pay homage to the shot of the bassett with his ears blowing in front of a fan… This shot captured more of Fred’s personality – he liked the breeze but it wasnt letting it move him or those huge heavy ears (btw he weighed 30kgs!)
