This was a collaboration with my mother, photographer Deborah Shelton. She took the photos, I did the imaging. All due respect to Patrick Nagel, whom I will always love, no matter how many cheap ‘n’ tacky knock-offs he inspired.

At the height of an evergrowing economy. / Real incomes increases, and so does the purchasing power of consumers. / The marginal propensity to spend on extravagant goods also rises. And self-indulgence is inevitable. Obesity. It’s not a habit anymore. / It’s an epidemic. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /

It started with the words, and the rest is history…
I was down at our local pub the other day having lunch and a drink of soda water. I was intrigued by the bubbles that formed on the straw in the glass and decided to recreate it at home. Taken with a Fuji Finepix S5700. Featured in Beauty ‘N’ Bubbles, late 2008. Featured in The Compact Group, May 2009.

Onigiri (rice balls), sushi (tuna, egg, and salmon), Pocky (original chocolate), Ramune (a type of soda), gummies, and ramen: the standard diet of your average American otaku. Live it proud!

*Dedicated to my dear friend Rachel M ... “A coke and a smile.” xo * [Double Exposure Project #3 – Oregon and San Diego Exposed] This is one of the images produced through double exposing a roll of film with my amazingly talented, generous, and dear friend Matt Adamik. This is our third attempt at working with this process and I am in love with every image yet again. Matt lives in Oregon and I live in San Diego. He shot the roll first, mailed it to me, and I shot over top his photos. Neither of us knew what the other was shooting. The results are astounding and breathtaking. And fun! We will be collaborating on many more double exposure projects in the very near future. A wonderful way to bring Oregon and San Diego together, as well as the styles and friendships of two photographers. I am absolutely in love with this type of photography! I highly recommend it for everyone. Thank you Matt for everything! Goggles Down!

Our friend Meps (that stands for something but I’ll tell you later) has just encountered a new neighbor. She has made an impression on him. He dropped his soda. And I’m not sure she can be trusted…

We’ve adopted this beautiful greyhound after fostering her for a month. Her new name is Soda. She has run 7 races and won $106.- / After that her owner put her on the street. / Her racing name was ‘Whitney’ (no wonder she never did that well). She can’t really sit, is as soft as a bunny and has more feline qualities than canine. She’s the most gentle loving treasure and has our heartstrings firmly wrapped around her paws.
