  • The MIL lived in an old farmhouse Nr Looe and this was an actual old working stove on which she did her cooking. The recounting of her childhood gave me the idea as to how children bathed in earlier times. Shot two days before we emigrated to Australia 13 yrs ago, this is taken from a scanned and cropped neg portraiture

  • In the loo at the Carriage Works in Sydney (trades entrance) A tradespersons daily grind – grease and oil.

  • Bubbles

  • We feel very strongly about animal rights and hope that someday our artistic efforts may help change some minds. Animal testing is a barbaric practice that is not only cruel, but also unnecessary and inconclusive. / ALL proceeds will be donated to the American Anti-Vivisection Society.

  • I found this last night looking through my travel journal, I drew it whilst waiting with baited breath for the clothes to finish their cycle in a London Laundromat. Accompanied by part of the journal entry… ‘Omg I’m using a laundromat for the first time ever! After spending 5 minutes trying to put my 1 pound coin into the machine, I finally realised it was asking for 3×1 pound coins all at once ( which of course I didnt have on me) When I finally got the coins going a block of soap appeared from nowhere, unsure of what to do with the soap I stick it in with the clothes. / 45 minutes of watching my clothes spin round passed. They come out all sticky, with my luck Im allergic to the detergent. I then transfered the clothes to the dryer. nb. dryer does not dry clothes as such, juts shrinks them. My new dress is now a tshirt.” Still, its funny I wouldnt change that expreience for anything, this was my favourite sketch from the whole trip!

  • Photograph of a bubble, with reflections of the photographer and the bubble blower. Strong and colourful surface patterns. Strong sphere shape.

  • Me photographing a bubble in front of a window. The window is blacked out (a black shirt is hanging behind the glass) to reflect light back onto the bubble and myself. Dark backgrounds (like the window) allow the bubbles’ colours to be seen clearly. Photographing bubbles is all about having good lighting conditions.

  • My Mother always has a large jar of soap on the bathroom bench. / Firtsly, because you always need a spare, / Secondly because she thinks it looks good….. / I think so too.

  • This is a photograph of a soap bubble. I think it’s the most spectacular bubble photo I’ve seen, but then again I would say that. I’ve taken maybe 20,000 bubble photos before getting one with such a clear reflection. Lots of practice!!!

  • This photograph is one of a series. Ted created soap bubbles and special light/color arrangements. This is the first one. / Macro photograph captured by Ted Widen. / /

  • ... Oh well… it is not Red Bubble, but that’s the best I’ve got right now :-)) I was playing with my camera and I was curious if I can fetch the interference patterns on soap bubbles. I messed up my kitchen (you can see blinds) a bit. Inteesting aspect of this picture is that it displays both geometric (image) and physical optics (interference patterns)simultanously Published in the June 2009 issue of the Optics & Photonics Newa (Official monthly journal of the Optical Society of America) Canon 40D, Canon 28-135mm @ 50 mm / 1/60 sec / f/4.5 / ISO 400 / metering pattern. / no flash / I am not sure where is a pair of bright spots (front and back at the center) coming from. I figured it out: central spot is my kitchen light! Duh! I’ll have to re-take it now that I know where I goofed up.

  • My kitchen /

  • A soap bubble in the process of popping. This is a true photograph – the only editing is a tiny raise on colour saturation.

  • Soap Bubble, ripping, tearing, splitting, dying.

  • The phenomenon of light reflecting off a soap bubble is rarely observed. The iridescent colours are caused by interfering light waves, some of which reflect off the outer surface. I used a macro lens in order to capture this in detail. No adjustments were made to colour or saturation in Photoshop, only a simple square crop! As featured in the group ‘Super Macro Photography’ – 10/07/09 Thank you to all who stop by to have a look, it’s much appreciated, as are your comments! Copyright © Lesley Williamson 2009

  • Okay, Red decided that it was finally time for a bath. He kept looking up from the birdbath as if to say you’re out of soap! A little while back a bird, also splashing, said the same thing – guess I’d better get some soap for these critters! Red loves to splash in this bath – especially on hot days! As is, untouched from camera taken June 2009 in Rumney, NH. Camera Canon PowerShot SX10 IS / Shutter speed 1/40 sed. / Lens Aperture F/5.7 / Focal Length 100mm / F-Number F/5/7 / Exposure Time 1/40 sec. / ISO Speed ISO-200 / Metering Mode Pattern / Exposure comp 0 step

  • part 4 of my angels and demons series / ...controversial naughty angel… photo-manipulation / model: Grace my love / drapes, / wings / my own © 2009 jokiargu creations / All rights reserved see part 1 (clickable): / part 2 / part 3 /

  • I think this is approaching perfection, in terms of what I set out to capture. Maybe nail varnish would complete this. ;-) The weather conditions this morning were absolutely perfect. There was absolutely no wind, the bubbles just hung in the air, and there was even cloud cover – like a giant diffuser created just for me. The lighting of this shot is natural – sunlight. The Nikon D90 is great for giving clear images at high ISO (here ISO 800); making this shot possible.

  • Created with Apophysis 2.08 and the “clone” script. Background designed with Photoshop. Best viewed larger. / This design reminds me of the surface of soapy water with all the bubbles. Designer: Thea Walstra / /
