Photographed in morning light at Garden Of The Gods Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado, processed in HDR Thoughts welcomed!
A feeding flock of Snow Geese takes flight after being scared from the cornfield at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. Often it’s a coyote that spooks them or other predators. While not equal in flock size to the morning fly out, these “fright flights” are an impressive spectacle in and of themselves.
While the rest of the hiking party was still sleeping – the photographer is already at play. The mist keep rolling in – it was a beautiful morning.
‘Garden of the Gods’ is a wondrous ‘garden’ just out of downtown Colorado Springs. Known as ‘high desert’ Colorado Springs is nestled at the foot of Pike’s Peak, one of the many 14,000 foot mountains in Colorado. What’s bizarre is the fact this landscape spends most of the winter blanketed by snow, yet when the snow melts, much of it is dry and desert like. Colorado Springs is at around 9000 feet, so the air is clear but thin. This particular rock formation is called ‘The Prayer’ for obvious reasons. It’s an amazing place.
Te Anau is a small town next to a large lake in Southern New Zealand. This icy sunrise was beautiful, the mist rising off the lake, snow capped mountains and a setting moon. The red boat was just in the right place for contrast. / Nikon D300, 18-200mm lens at 18mm / 1/640s F/3.5
A Morning Softness Photographed in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park, the morning of 2009, worth it as I was one of the only people in the entire park, an odd feeling to say the least, but one of absolute serenity. Processed in HDR / —-John

A Sunrise Over Golden Captured overlooking Golden, Colorado from Lookout Mountain / I went ahead and set the scene up and was thinking “Oh ya, maybe I should try using my filters!” and wallah, this is the outcome! It was a cold morning to say the least, and once again my damn tripod was like a flagpole one licks when it is below freezing lol You have to love the feel of cold, icy steel on bare skin! It is so much fun! NOT! lol But I think it was pretty much worth it. Hope ya all like it! / John Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-70 DT Lens / Singh-RAY CPL / Cokin P002 / Dynatran Tripod / And a LOT of hot coffee! / Raw—Processed through LR, find output thru PS and PSP
