  • I love such winter! / Approximately -10C, sunny, with snow… Amazing feelings! / / More photos: / /

  • Captured on the Scottish Borders. I’ve wanted to capture some scenes with hay bales for ages, and given the opportunity to view these in a field, I stopped the car and tramped through slippery icy snow and though freezing (I forgot my hat and gloves), this was one of the results. They alway remind me of the breakfast cereal Shredded Wheat for some reason. LOL. Hope you like it. Don. Nikon D700: 24-120mm.

  • A group of chrysanthemums in the snow.

  • Dressed in gold and copper for the magic hour, beautiful Montreal is awaiting sunset. In less than an hour, there will still be magic in the sky, but a rich indigo blue will slowly cloak the city, with its dark velvet mystery… Shot from Candiac, on the South-Shore of Montreal, Quebec (Canada) accross the frozen St-Lawrence river. Focal length 45mm / ISO-200 / Aperture f/6,3 / Shutter 1/160 sec. Nikon D60 / AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR

  • Dawn in the Purcell mountains in December during a week of skiing at Jumbo Pass, BC.

  • The forest was covered – everything had snow on it! (even us!) We went out to do a bit of exploring on Stinson Mt as the storm was still spitting snow. Taken in Rumney, NH in early January. We’re getting more snow today! We do need to watch out for falling snow…. lol! This As Is, untouched straight from the camera.

  • Sierra Nevada, Spain. / Sony DSC W17

  • Most of my life has been spent in snowy and cold regions of the U.S.A. Living in California has been a delight. My current job takes me more often than not to cold and snowy areas during November through March. The colder, the more I’ll be there. So much for moving to California. I do enjoy the beauty of winter and the starkness of the colors. That reason is why this little fractal haunted me from it’s folder for over three years. It’s a raw fractal that was created with no scripts, just my green attempts of working with fractals. Then, I finally had a photo to match. A little Redpoll in the snow. And… my Photoshop skills were finally at a point where I felt comfortable enough to make it worth the effort for this image. I originally saw this with a little snowshoe hare, but hey, you take what comes your way and make lemonade. :o) I hope you enjoy this little image and the explanation of how it came to be. Created in Apophysis, Photoshop and Photography.

  • A “family of trees” appeared to be caroling in the December snow. The falling flakes were just starting to thin out as the evening light was quickly fading in Indian park. The diffused light lent a very special glow to the scene. This image was captured in Indian Park (a Municipal park) in Montoursville, Pennsylvania. This small stand of trees can be found beside a red arched bridge over Mill Creek. The photo is “straight from the camera” (as-is) and was shot with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens, set to the 29mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/6th sec at f/9.5. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto, tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome! We are going away for a few days, enjoy the rest of your holiday and I will catch up when I get back. Please view large

  • Clarks Creek was just so beautiful on New Year’s morning. The combination of morning sun and foggy mist from the fresh snowfall created beautiful rays of light in a winter wonderland. Just don’t trust that old bridge!!! I tweaked the sun rays and added the Orton effect with photoshop! Photo taken 1/1/10, Clarks Creek near Tower City, Pennsylvania.
