SNOWDROP,,
I have finally found out what this plant is called and I was close with my original title of ‘Snowdrops’, which is just what popped into my head when I looked at this plant. I now know it is commonly called Snow Queen, hence the title change. If anyone is desperate to know, its botanical name is Pieris.

A sad little creature, she hibernates for the sunny spring, fruitful summer and colourful autumn and wakes up for the grey of winter. Very old piece, she was part of a set, but she’s the only one I still find quite cute.
I love the purity and simplicity of snowdrops. they require nil attention yet they multiply and produce every winter to early spring.

Two snowdrops with raindrops
It is said on the news that spring here is about 4 to 6 weeks later this year that “normal“. This strikes the eye all the more as spring was very early here last year. So indeed we are all longing for the good signs. / Snowdrops and crocusses are welcomed joyfully. They show that nature just continues on its course to better better. This shot was taken yesterday in the park of the country-house Gooilust at ´s-Graveland. You know the place already, though not in this springfull perspective. ´s-Graveland, 1st March 2009, 10.33 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 18 mm / F 11, 1/60, ISO 200 And here two of the former shots from this park:
